Nele Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Whoa? another single already? I mean they've barely realesed LOTAG...
Izzard Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 It's different for everyone, I guess. Usually if I have such a connection to a song, I want to know more about the artist. If they can overwhelm me with one song, they must be able to with more. Green Day did so. That's how most of us became fans, after all. Yes, I remember, it was the first time I heard JOS that I fell in love
JHyena86 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Of course it's going to get overplayed. Green Day wrote it, it's a nice little catchy ballad. It's practically built for airplay, although I'm sure Billie didn't write it with that in mind. My feelings exactly. This was only a matter of time. Next over used ballad, yay... On a brighter note, maybe I won't have to suffer through Good Riddance as often (which I actually like, just not on the radio)...
petros Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Ok a song is song and you don't have to be a fan of the band in order to really appreciate some of there work. Holey Crap people it's a song, a great song. If you don't want to hear it on the radio change the station. I'm sorry so let me get this straight, You guys like Green Day but you don't want to hear their songs on the radio and you don't want their songs to have music videos? I'm really not trying to be rude...but i just don't get that at all. I think I agree with you too.. Why shouldn't this song be on the radio? You all mean that you don't like songs such as Boulevard Of Broken Dreams or Holiday or Wake me up when September Ends because everybody knows them because they're played on the radio? Well I think Green Day want their funs to listen their music on the radio... It's too selfish to want a song just for yourself...

Try reading the conversation that happened after the post you quoted, I think that makes it clear what we mean (and that's definitely not that we don't like songs because they're on the radio (I love those songs, and me not liking September is just downright blasphemy http://www.greendaycommunity.org/uploads/emoticons/default_laugh.png' alt=''> that was really awkwardly formulated) or that it isn't nice to hear Green Day on the radio)

At the bolded: I read all the posts and I think you don't want all the teens to say stuff like omg this song is lovely and billy is so cool and I love him and blah..Yeah I don't like people who aren't real funs of green day and don't even know some of their older stuff and say that they listen to Green Day but come on I don't think thats a problem for any band... Try reading it again, please. You obviously didn't get it. Disclaimer: We don't want those teenies, no one does. But that is inevitable with music like this. This, however, wasn't the point we were trying to make.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I read all the posts and I think you don't want all the teens to say stuff like omg this song is lovely and billy is so cool and I love him and blah..Yeah I don't like people who aren't real funs of green day and don't even know some of their older stuff and say that they listen to Green Day but come on I don't think thats a problem for any band... No! Well, I have to say I'm not toooo big of a fan of those people, but that's got nothing to do with the point! We really like When It's Time, we love the song, we know the background of the song and had a build-up to the final product, we have an emotional connection with the band. Non fans really like When It's Time, they don't know the background of the song, didn't even know it existed until they heard it on the radio, and don't have any emotional connection with the band. See the difference there? People might really like the song, love it, connect with the song, whatever, but fans like it differently, with more dimension to it if you want to say it like that. I'm not saying non fans aren't worthy or some shit like that, but there is a difference. And then you also have the people to whom it's just another song on the radio, they might not even like it, but they do know it. The song is then just not appreciated, which is deserves to be. I realize this is very straight-forward and it's not completely it (it's missing some crucial things), but do you get what we mean now? Edit: I'm not saying this song shouldn't be released at all, I'm not gonna deny people a song and keep it to myself, but this is the reason why I'm a bit apprehensive of it being a radio single.
petros Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Try reading it again, please. You obviously didn't get it. Disclaimer: We don't want those teenies, no one does. But that is inevitable with music like this. This, however, wasn't the point we were trying to make. Well maybe today isn't my day it seems that I can't really understand what the problem is.. Maybe because I live in a country where everybody listens to every crappy pop single that comes out and cause I haven't listened to the radio for the last 5 years or something... Edit: Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love I just read your post and now yes it seems I understand what you mean now...Yeah I agree they can't really understand this song us we do...
pisquano Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Whoa? another single already? I mean they've barely realesed LOTAG... Well, not exactly...I don't know why, but LOTAG hasn't been released as a radio single yet (here)...
Tiffx Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 This is pretty cool, but to be honest I don't think it's going to become that popular or overplayed like some people are assuming. But who knows.
Caractériel Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I guess its just to get some promotion for the musical soundtrack. Don't think its going to be released as an official Green Day single.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I guess its just to get some promotion for the musical soundtrack. Don't think its going to be released as an official Green Day single. They already did that with 21 Guns though.
pisquano Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 I guess its just to get some promotion for the musical soundtrack. Don't think its going to be released as an official Green Day single. Yes, it is to promote the soundtrack.
Maddy. Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Yes, it is to promote the soundtrack. Is there any official confirmation of this?
RobyRoom Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Well, not exactly...I don't know why, but LOTAG hasn't been released as a radio single yet (here)... I've heard from a dj on the radio that LOTAG is now out as a single. So I guess it has been officially released, though it's not getting a decent airplay (the dj also said that the song is just an ok song and that the video is way under Green Day standards
Maddy. Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 the dj also said that the song is just an ok song and that the video is way under Green Day standards He speaks truth. They could have chosen way better songs or made a better video to promote the album. But we's getting off topic. I'm just gonna sit here dreaming up scenarios for an eventual When It's Time video.
pisquano Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Is there any official confirmation of this? You should read or translate the article on the website I posted. Edit: ^^ Yes, but Warner Music Italy always shows which songs are going to be released as singles, and Last Of The American Girls isn't on that list of songs...but, who knows...
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 You should read or translate the article on the website I posted. If I'm right though (I might not be; my Italian isn't exactly perfect), it only says it's from the cast album and they release it because it's out (? not sure of that.... --> A lanciare la release del cd), not that they release it to promote it.
Micky Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 If I'm right though (I might not be; my Italian isn't exactly perfect), it only says it's from the cast album and they release it because it's out (? not sure of that.... --> A lanciare la release del cd), not that they release it to promote it. Hmm, I think they mean that to promote the AI Cast album they'll release as radio single When It's Time by Green Day. Not the cast version
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Hmm, I think they mean that to promote the AI Cast album they'll release as radio single When It's Time by Green Day. Not the cast version But where do they say 'promote'? I mean, not like I'm doubting your understanding of the text or anything, I just want to know
Micky Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 But where do they say 'promote'? I mean, not like I'm doubting your understanding of the text or anything, I just want to know lanciare is the word for 'promote'
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 lanciare is the word for 'promote' ohh......I thought it meant 'launch' or something edit: oi, 15,000th post. What an extremely lame 15,000th post
