I mean yeah, punk folk okay, but his music is so...mellow...in comparison.

Listen to "Try This At Home" "Live FAst Die Old" "Worse Things Happen at Sea" "Sons Of Liberty" "Imperfect Tense" "Once we were Anarchists", compare them to some Green Day tracks and tell me if you still think he's mellow.

This is literally the best news I've heard since Green Day announced the uk shows. Frank Turner is a lyricist and songwriter I hold on a par with Billie Joe and Jamie Lenman. I've met him a coupla times after gigs and he's a really cool guy too.

He puts on an amazing show, although it won't have the intimate party feel that his smaller venue gigs go.

Seriously, this is amazing.... I am lost for words. WOOP!

I don't understand how his music is going to fit into the fast pace of all the other bands. I mean yeah, punk folk okay, but his music is so...mellow...in comparison.

Well if we just had bands that played power chords at 140bpm we'd be completely worn out by the time Green Day came on stage. Lyrically Turner completely fits the bill and will provide another great performance to add to the night.

ehm... who's he?

What a legend. Can't believe this is the guy that would play for 20 people in a pub.

Looking forward to seeing him.

I'd highly recommend looking him up if you don't know who he is

I used to listen to Million Dead quite a bit but had never listened to Frank Turner when he went solo until this was announced - amazing stuff! Beautiful lyricist and I think it's going to be a great sing-along set! I can't wait, woooo.

At first i was like "Who is he?", but i listened to a few of his videos on Youtube, and i think that he is really catchy, and i am quite looking forward to seeing him support Green Day at Wembley in June. He really seems like a good artist. I like Photosynthesis best right now.

Listened to his music on myspace and i nearly fell asleep on one of his songs. But I am really glad that Joan Jett is performing though!

In this week's Kerrang

(these are just the relevant bits)

Frank Turner has revealed to Kerrang! that he's "blown away" to be supporting Green Day at London's Wembley Stadium on June 19...

Frank explains that he was on tour in China when he was offered the support slot.

"I was on a train going from Wuhan to Wuxi," he says. "I got a phone call saying, if I felt like it, I could open for Green Day at Wembley Stadium. I mulled it over for about a nanosecond (laughs)! I can't wait to shout 'Hello Wembley!' and actually be at the stadium, rather than at some pub round the corner."

 @ instead of the pub around the corner

He's a very hard working guy, one of the most dedicated performers around at the moment, and he deserves this 100%. Cannot wait to see him there. I don't care if half the crowd thinks its boring :)

You've literally summed my thoughts up :). And the fact you know who Jamie Lenman is makes this post even better haha ! Also, I've seen him the last two times he's played in Newcastle, were you there for either one :D ?

I've never listened to him before, but I might have to check him out now. I've probably heard a few of his songs somewhere, but not realised they were by him.
