MissSanders Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 one of my favourites! and the solo is the best of the old green day
Psycho Britney Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Oh I really wub this song. It is just so simple and honest sounding, and incredibly adorable! Also although I know didley squat about music, I love the solo.
Guest Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 I love this song, the lyrics are cute, but without being cheesy. I'm sure most people have been able to relate to it at some point too, which makes it even better.
J'net Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 Totally unrelated, but every time I hear the first verse now, I think of the 'Extraordinary Girl' part of the musical. Late last night I had a dream And she was in it again. She and I were in the sky Flying hand in hand. Wow, Cheryl, that never occurred to me! Thanks for that visual to add to the love I already had for this song.
J'net Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 In the interview at the end of the 1989 KALX radio show, John says he named the song "Dry Ice" because he pictures lots of dry ice on the stage when the song is being played (something along those lines anyway). Not sure if this is actually true but its what he says. So now I can add the visual of the dry ice to the flying scene. This is turning into an awesome music video in my head!
Eeefaa. Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 i love this one i remember when i first heard it, it really stood ouit on the album, especially the beginning of it
ANJI Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 An amazing song! I loved it from the first time I ever listened to it...great lyrics!
Sharmellow Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 One of my favorites from this album. The lyrics are so adorable and something I could relate to. And I love the little solo. Haha. Great song, great choice for SOTW. <3
fev5 Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I hadn't listened to this song in a while and i'd forgotten how much i like it. Brilliant song!
heartscollide Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Dry Ice is one adorable song! I've always loved young Billie Joe's lyrics. Although... it does make me a little sad that boys are not like this now... well the ones that I know aren't like that.
Comedy & Tragedy Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I love this song so much. I remember the first time I really listening to the words, I was almost in tears. The lyrics are so beautiful! "But my pen is writing wrong So I'll say it in a song Oh I love you more right now More than I've ever loved before.." And, I love the ending "YES! YES! YES!"
Trina Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I adore this song, so, so much. Here's a great video of it (at the 4 minute mark approx): I love the story about why Billie Joe often sings "to ease the pain that's in my arm" instead of "heart" - it was a reference to all the wannabe hipsters in the bay who pretended they took drugs. Isn't the way Billie sings "Oh I love her" so cute? "I'll send a letter to that girl Asking her to be my own, But my pen is writing wrong So I'll say it in a song. Oh I love you more right now - More than I've ever loved before. Hear these words straight from these lips - I'll need you forever more." ~ these'd be my favorite lyrics from it. I just adore how sweet and romantic it is. And the intro = <3
BrickOfSelfControl1995 Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 i love this song. amazing guitar solo. great great great
Moffie Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I've always really liked this song. It's one of those, "Yeah, I have felt this way before!" things to it. Sometimes it's hard to believe that this was written when they were about 18 or so. Wow, I'm 18 and I suck at writing stuff!
plasticpictureframe Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 This was the song for my last relationship...
Holly Ann Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 She and I were in the sky, flying hand in haaaand~ Love it!
