American Idiot took Green Day to the next level. They proved that they could make their own album opera with a wide range of song styles. The lyrics speak to me more than any of their other albums. Billie Joe played around with different types of vocal ablilities. In my opinion, he is by far the most diverse male artist in all music we have today. Hes just amazing. Although my favorite album would probably be Warning, this is definitely one of my top picks of theirs.?

United States of Rage and Love: Green Day - "Jesus of Suburbia"

An exceptionally intricate, intelligent, gripping, and ambitious track, "Jesus of Suburbia" also did a fantastic job of setting up the story, characters, and social commentary that makes this LP so great.

American Idiot is my favourite album of all time. So, we ARE allowed to make threads for individual albums. Oh, I wasn't sure about that. Okay, so... I started liking Green Day around the American Idiot era, American Idiot is my favourite album, and yeah, it's simply amazing!!!

We used to have a subforum to discuss literally every single GD song but it looks like they did away with that.

Green Day, ten years after the release of "American Idiot"

Ten years ago he "American Idiot" by Green Day. Not exactly undisputed masterpiece. The bomb, in fact the grenade dropped by the American music market remains in clas 102 weeks for bin, changing forever the history of band, and mine too. Bought illegally (ten years later not be prosecutable it?) Has to stand on the beach, the greenish cover-Yes, it would have to be black, what I Paid for my good grace that it contained not hit the best of Cristina D'avena-with a narrow bloody grenade in a mid punch inspired a lot. And the music was really ... Explosive. May not I had heard anything so powerful. Set: I had eleven years, and on my walkman turned some nomads hit of the summer that I pretend to have forgotten titles and unnerving the melody, and when I was in the mood to upload "Under My Skin" by Avril Lavigne. I had a world to discover and "American Idiot" was the beginning of everything. Many spoke in my disk what you understand in a few. Clear this I was soon enough, perched in what thirteen tracks there was all this were stories and emotions, which shades the girls in hormonal storm ran the post from staccato Billie Joe "meaning" seize I doubted. He finished "concept album" I was unknown, and perhaps even he finished "album" has reported something different slab of Pokémon trading cards, when a wise voice my mid said it was si < < album a story telling, all songs are linked > > I was struck by the brilliance of the thing. To record a story telling, it realize? As a da movie listen.

But that story? I was having my way my English I also always eleven years and my drive was not fake it booklet with texts, then mid trust has to Wikipedia, that informing me the disc was a protested against the war in Iraq, and against President Bush's administration, the quintessential American Idiot (according to Green Day. Mr Bush did not send CIA House. Joking). As if all this history of Ties went I was not 100% clear, the songs my had to that epic of his characters were real and symbolic at the same time. St. Jimmy's son was it "a Troy Edgar Allan Poe and"; then there was Mary Jane, that I realized years later be more likely a reference to Marijuana rather than raise Character itself; There was the rebellious, girl that this dangerous squeezes the heart of a protagonist as bomb by hand. That one becomes extraordinary girl he when protagonist is not in love with, then move on to the story as "Whatshername" the "Whatsername" that CLOSES the disc.

It was not love at first sight between me and "American Idiot." I succeeds often subsequently that I very much appreciate discs, then I think it is normal. At the beginning I felt the big mess, then some nice songs my hear for real it put I a few years. Meanwhile, Green Day after a tower that I attended various reasons (that including it had eleven years and my expected letter to go to Hogwarts instead around concerts) disappeared from the scene for five long years, where if he had all the time to listen and listen to each track. "Wake me up When september ends" was one of the most touching and most pcs also transmitted, this cryptic phrase that nobody knew to interpret until many years after somewhere lye from what I was told the young mother of BJ after dead father. "Wake me up when September ends". Chills.

The other song that felt obsessively for radio at the time was it single "Boulevard of broken dreams." These two pcs were among the more relaxed and therefore suitable to public what wider could appreciate "Letterbomb" for example. I think I've heard "Boulevard of broken dreams" too many flip over these years ten, so much so that today for the radio Can I pinch of annoyance to shovel. Then over this song, though I was still Tired. also on the whole of the disc is the I appreciate again. I just wish they'd send in the radio for another ten years, in order to give me the opportunity to hear the lack!

"American Idiot" is ten years old and I feel a bit older now.

I wasted a gallon or so of gas today because I put American Idiot on in my car, cranked it up, and just drove around listening to it straight through and crying. Every single song brings back so many memories and emotions. This album has really been the soundtrack of the past 10 years of my life, it really is hard to believe it's been that long. It still gets me just as hyped up as it did the first day I put it into my CD player. It's been 10 years, and it still hits me as hard as if it came out yesterday.

American idiot means too much to put into words. Just so lucky to be a teenager when this came out and grow up with this album on replay!! Pretty sure I was listening to the album on a Walkman the first year - poor kid.

A big happy anniversary to one of the most poetic pieces of work to ever be created. American Idiot has affected my life and influenced it throughout the years in more ways than I could possibly imagine.

Here's to another 10!
