You know what? Who cares if fans, years ago might I add, outsted Green Day, and who cares that some dickward, years ago, wrote "Billie Joe must die" on a bathroom stall? That hasn't stopped PHGP from playing there, to many fans' delight.

And don't get me wrong, I am a huge Green Day fan, and I wish that they weren't nixed from the club...

But Green Day or no Green Day, what this club stands for is what's worth saving. You don't see many places like this around, especially for our generation. It's a sorry sight when a greedy rent hike is going to close down a big part of this area's, and Punk's, history and culture. And it's a sorry sight when a fifteen-year old mistake gets in the way of able fans saving it...

I will be donating as much as I can, as soon as I can. And I hope a lot more people will see passed only Green Day's history and donate as well. This place is worth saving.

^If it was a club in my local neighbourhood, then I'd agree that it would be a great thing for me to support or donate money to if it was in trouble. I'm sure Gilman's a hugely worthwhile place for people who are part of that local scene, but I'm not any part of it, it has nothing to do with me. This isn't a life-saving project in a third world country, it's a music club in America. Donating to it is a nice gesture but the idea that anyone feels morally obligated to donate to it is bizarre to me.

To stay open they're obviously going to have to find a way to make enough money other than donations, if they can't get enough from locals and those who use the club. I wish them luck doing so.

Same with what's been said. Fucking pisses me off that as soon as I become old enough to appreciate CBGB's, it closes.

All-ages diy venues are essential for pretty much any teenager in existence. We need more of them to open, instead of more of them to close.
