Burritos! Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Oh yes, it indeed does! Yeah, I dont know. I really didn't expect much. I listened to it and didnt really dig it. Then I dug it up a couple months later and fell in complete love with it. It's really inexplainable. Probably 'cause I felt like I related to it so well. Amazing how an album can do that to you, huh? Yes, Viva La Gloria is absolutely beautiful! Thats how I got my mom to bare listening to them! Yeah, I actually just learned to play it on guitar the other day for shits and giggles. I might find a new appreciation for the album some day, but as of right now, nothing really stands out about it for me and sets it apart from any other album.

But I'll accept and respect your opinion just 'cause you're from San Jose.
jello4president Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 whats wrong with everyone? Christians Inferno & Take Back are 2 of my faves!
PeaceMucker Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I just think he made the characters into total wankers . I wanna give them a slap. For me the Jesus Of Suburbia in that video doesn't represent the character of Jesus Of Suburbia on the album at all. He's a twat. And all those glum faced posers sitting around staring blankly into space, urgh no thanks. I love the song but I hate the video with a passion I have to agree, I'm not much of a fan of it either. The song is such a rollercoaster ride, I don't think the video captured the mood of the song very well. It's funny because Sam Bayer directed it and he's my favorite music video director. Ever since first hearing that song I've had a vision for the way I think it should go. I may have to test it out now that I'm in film school.
Punx89 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I don't like christian's Inferno,Take Back and Platypus(because of the lyrics)
November's Storms Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I don't like christian's Inferno,Take Back and Platypus(because of the lyrics) But it is the lyrics that make it so great! That and the breakneck speed at which it's played obviously I don't like all this hating on Take Back and Last Ride In. LRI is such a chillout groove, great on a sunny day! And Take Back is just awesome, a taste of hardcore that really makes me wish GD did more of it!
Hermione Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Christian's Inferno haters what's wrong with you? Watch this awesomeness and tell me you don't like it . That fabulous laugh! I have to agree, I'm not much of a fan of it either. The song is such a rollercoaster ride, I don't think the video captured the mood of the song very well. It's funny because Sam Bayer directed it and he's my favorite music video director. Ever since first hearing that song I've had a vision for the way I think it should go. I may have to test it out now that I'm in film school. Exactly! When you listen to the song/album you build up a strong picture of JoS in your mind. I think he's an interesting, complex character and not nearly as much of a douche . If you ever do test it out make sure you post about it on here, I'd love to see a different interpretation. But it is the lyrics that make it so great! That and the breakneck speed at which it's played obviously I don't like all this hating on Take Back and Last Ride In. LRI is such a chillout groove, great on a sunny day! And Take Back is just awesome, a taste of hardcore that really makes me wish GD did more of it! Agreed and agreed! Nimrod has an old fashioned vibe running through it and kind of a subtle 60s beach feeling about it, and Last Ride In fits that perfectly. I love how they have it as a little interval in the middle of the album, as a break between the faster, louder songs - a bit of tongue in cheek humour there I think. I never skip it, I love chilling out to Last Ride In and then getting straight back into the fast stuff with Jinx.
NothingButYourImagination Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 But it is the lyrics that make it so great! That and the breakneck speed at which it's played obviously :PI don't like all this hating on Take Back and Last Ride In. LRI is such a chillout groove, great on a sunny day! And Take Back is just awesome, a taste of hardcore that really makes me wish GD did more of it! Exacty! Like in the first few weeks of me listening to that album, Christian's Inferno was one of the songs that I really got hooked on (as well as EJN and RHS). To me, the sound on that track is like all these chemicals washing over you and Billie's voice sounds completely diabolic. And I agree about Last Ride In and Take Back too. I used to dislike Last Ride, but it's grown on me a lot lately and I think it's perfect if your at the beach in the summer. I think Take Back is a good little bit of hardcore like you said, that's one of the things I like about Nimrod so much is that it's varied so much in sounds.
Emilie Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 I'm not a big fan of Extraordinary Girl. The song is okay, but the beginning is just sooo long, and I sit there thinking 'get to the song already!' I usually skip Last Ride In too, and Are We the Waiting
jensername Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 If I had to choose, I would have to say "Dominated Love Slave". Honestly, it just kind of disturbs me lol. But it is Tre', so I have to give the song some credit.
theeulogy Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 ^ Noooooo!! Just kiddin', nevermind. I'm just a bit obsessed with Tre Hmm...I don't really know...Brain Stew is a bit difficult to listen for me sometimes...but I still love it!
ThisIsNotNora Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Know your enemy, Take back and American idiot (sometimes) Just because I've listened to them too much (except take back)
St3veHimself Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 I usually skip over the singles from AI except JOS of course
November's Storms Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 But Holiday is one of the best songs on the album! But I do get what you mean, you just get tired of hearing it all the time.
Laurenn Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 I love how almost everyone said Christians Inferno. When i first got 21cb i said i HATED Christians Inferno, but then i listen to it once or twice all the way through i decided it wasnt that bad, but i still skip it. I also skipp: Good riddance (tired of hearing it) 21 Guns (tired of hearing it, but always sing along when its on the radio) and most of the other songs that are/were played on the radio, unless im in the mood to hear them
St. Jocelyn Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Know Your Enemy and Christians Inferno. i pretty much always skip over them...
rinu Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Last Ride In and and Espionage.Because they're instrumental but I love The Simpsons Theme.
Nimrod2309 Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Many people have said Take Back. I have to agree. I usually skip it, I like to sing along to songs, can't really do it with that one. Also, I usually skip American Idiot (unless my three year old is around, it's his favorite). That song was played to death. I know it was six over six years ago, but I'm still not over it yet. Though it is the title track of the album, the story still makes sense to me without it.
St. Banana Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 I realised that I skip Welcome to Paraadise...alot Guess I am rather sick of it.
Of Rage and Love Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Why is everyone hatin on Take Back? xD And I say Know Your Enemy is always the first one that comes to mind, idk if it is, its just the first one i think of xD
LouLou Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I'm gonna have to say Take Back only cause I can't Really take it seriously. It's the only song I can't just sit and listen to
green day blink 182 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 take backs a badass fucking songg! lol and chrishtians inferno! whats wrong with yalll lol
Pres Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Last Ride In is my least favorite green day song i can never sit there and listen to the whole song all the way through
BrokenHome Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Woahh yeah, I'm shocked at the amount of people who said Take Back! Absolutely love it. A song I really never listen to is Rest. It bores me :/
