Rosie May Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I really don't understand it. Drama Queen was almost ON the album, there couldn't be a more appropriate b-side than that. Green Day seriously need to sort out their single-releasing skills, they're rubbish at it! Yes! I mean, what even happened to EJN and 21 cb?
pisquano Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 But Too Much Too Soon is an awesome song, and that's a b-side too. (Although I guess that's not too strong of an argument, haha.) And it would also make sense to make at least Drama Queen a b-side for this album, it fits with the theme of the album and all. I mean, maybe what you said is the/a reason, it's definitely a valid reason, but still... Maybe they're thinking of including Drama Queen on the next album. And if you think about the B-sides of the singles from AI, only the American Idiot CD single had new songs (Too Much Too Soon, Shoplifter, Governator) and that's the same for Know Your Enemy from this album (Lights Out, Hearts Collide).

Yeah, I know, I got that. I said it too, at the end of my post Yeah, I thought of that too a while ago. It's a pity it's like that. I like new songs.
petros Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Yes I'm a little disappointed as you guys but although I like Drama Queen I don't think they're keeping it for their next album cause it will be a new album, all the songs would be new and it will be boring to hear the song we knew before.. And yes I agree what happened to EJN and 21CB???

And yes I agree what happened to EJN and 21CB??? But songs on albums aren't always new or never heard before. The first thing that comes to mind, that even fits both, is Good Riddance, which was written in '93, was a B-side on a single in '95 (I think? It was on the Brain Stew/Jaded single, if I recall it right. Insomniac single, anyway), and ended up on the album Nimrod in '97. And besides, not too many people know about Drama Queen. Only people who went to that concert and people who look up a LOT of Green Day concert videos, or people from GDC and some other fan forums. But long not all fans are on fan forums.

Yes you're right but I don't know I want the next album to be something really really special... Now I'm thinking that a Drama Queen studio version should be more than special...
Sanity Loan Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 And yes I agree what happened to EJN and 21CB??? EJN was the single in the US, Canada, and the UK (maybe some other countries) while 21CB was the single in all the other countries. I heard EJN a couple times on my local rock stations and on Satellite Radio but other than that, they didn't get good promotion or radio airplay. Not to mention the terrible video for EJN. There wasn't even an actual CD single for EJN, just promo CDs (which I bought one off of eBay the other day ). It's very frustrating because those are the two best songs on 21CB in my opinion.

Yes East Jesus Nowhere is my favourite of 21CB and this crappy music video was played very much in my country's biggest music channel and was first in it's rock charts when it was released. If they had a good music video and a single all over the world for it then I guess it would be a big rock hit as American Idiot...
Armstump Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 ^ I agree I just heard the song on the radio for the first time. (:
Caractériel Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Was hoping for some unreleased songs as B-sides but oh well. Still waiting for Drama Queen and Olivia
Robin105 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 You all realize Green Day do not pick singles or what B-sides go on them. Warner does I believe. I could be wrong but I know for sure that the record label picks which songs will be singles. I really want to hear a studio version of Drama Queen. Maybe it will be on the next album or an EP. Didn't they mention that those songs recorded in Europe back in October and November were for a future EP?

I recall something about an EP, but not confirmed, more something like "we recorded some demos for maybe an EP in the future". I don't even know if it was a quote or something the article concluded on their own.
Caractériel Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 They mentioned it on the Absolute Radio interview before their show in Birmingham. They were asked what their plans were for after the tour and Billie said that they were thinking about maybe putting out an EP. I guess if that happens at all, it will be next year at the earliest.
Jacob. Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 An EP would be awesome, with songs like Minensota Girl (), Drama Queen, When Its Time, Olivia/ Wonderful...and more unreleased songs that we haven't heard.

Maybe you aren't aware, but "When It's Time" was just released on the American Idiot Broadway cast recording
