thenumber1fool Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I don't own any of their records I use Spotify, it's a lot cheaper!
SilentShout Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 ^ Spotify is the best thing ever My first was American Idiot or Dookie. I don't remember
KatherineKerplunk Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 International Superhits and Dookie at the same time as it was I think 2 for £10 at HMV years ago.
nicicky Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Nimrod. Early 2004. We had to learn Good Riddance in music at school sometime toward the end of 2003, and I liked that song. I had sort of known who Green Day were before that point, just through other bands mentioning them and seeing them on TV, but being an ignorant 13 year old I didn't want to hear it because no one I knew liked it, and if no one I knew liked it then it mustn't have really been any good, right? Yeah. Stupid. So I stopped caring what the dickheads at school thought and I started paying more attention to them when I'd see their videos on TV (didn't listen to the radio). One song that really stood out for me was Hitchin' A Ride. I thought it was the greatest shit I'd ever heard. This one channel in Australia kept playing a live version of it, when they used to air the Green Day @ Goat Island special. I realized that the songs I liked most were all on Nimrod, so I bought it with some Christmas money. Then American Idiot happened, and just... KABOOM.
Morgaine Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Shame to admit it, but my first Green Day album was American Idiot, bought in January 2006.
theviridiansea Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 The first Green Day CD I listened to was American Idiot, but it was my mom's copy. The first Green Day album I owned was given to me by a friend, and it was Insomniac. The cashier told my friend that it was sitting in Walmart since 1995. LOL
nicicky Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Why are so many people ashamed to list AI as their first album? I don't understand at all. I think I'm missing something.
madddie Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Nimrod, 2003, I had grown up with my parents listening to Green Day, but I started to really like Nimrod in about 2003 and it was their CD but I used it a lot.
theviridiansea Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Why are so many people ashamed to list AI as their first album? I don't understand at all. I think I'm missing something. Do you mean me, or just people in general? I'm not ashamed to say AI was the first album I listened to, it just wasn't the first album I owned.
Silverlight Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I only got my first GD cd last year for christmas... it was 21CB, but before i got the cd i would always rush to the tv when they were on and try to download and listen to them as much as i could
nicicky Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Do you mean me, or just people in general? I'm not ashamed to say AI was the first album I listened to, it just wasn't the first album I owned. I meant people in general, but if everyone's reason is the same as yours then I can totally understand that. I thought people were saying they were just plain ashamed that AI was their first album, hahaha, I was like 'huh?'
corriearnell Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 well in 1997 (i was seven years old) i started listening to green day and i mademixed tapes of all of their cd's so i had them all on cassett tapes so if you want to be literal about it, the first green day CD i got was american idiot. i still have the old mix tapes somewhere but i now own all the tangible CD's. and yes can you believe i had cassett tapes up until 2000? i cant believe it either.
alaniluau Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I received American Idiot as a Christmas gift in 2008. Little did I know...
Hanako Alice Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 American idiot I think it was in January 2006.I saw them on tv, and was like OMG I bought the cd just for 1 song (boulevard of broken dreams) don't know why I did that but I'm glad I did it
**kookai** Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 American idiot... that how I stumbled on their other albums and fall head over heels for them .... love Warning
Juliette Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I *think* mine was warning but I honestly can't remember.
heeygloria Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 the first one i actually bought was Warning in like 2005 . after hearing American Idiot .
in_your_face Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 i'm too shy to say that 21st CB was my first ever gd cd that i bought! well, i dunno when i got into green day, so it doesn't really matter.
