Jenny95 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Mmmh....back in 2004/2005 I only heard a little bit of them but I was just too young to realize their awesomeness. so i just yeah knew them and liked blvd. of broken dreams and wmuwse. so with 12 I finally listened to blvd. again. intensly and suddenly fell in love with them. since then i admire them Yeah I think something like that happened to me too maybe i just grew older or I just understood their lyrics better
Metanoia Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Yeah I think something like that happened to me too maybe i just grew older or I just understood their lyrics better yeah same here. i mean no offense there are those 11/10 year old green day fans but i have to admit that at that ago you cant really get everything the tell/write/sing.
VivaLaRosalee Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 the first song i heard was good riddence when i was really little, i didnt care for it since i was raised on avenged sevenfold and alice in chains. years later i heard wake me up and i hated it, the day after 21cb came out i heard 21 guns, and i've been obsessed ever since.
keefe Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 First Green Day I ever heard/ saw was the American Idiot music video, it was just badass and addicting.
iwroteholdencaulfield! Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 i actually liked them right away
Wretched & Divine Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Prior to my friend begging me to go with her to see them in 2005, I... didn't actually know who they were I only turned 14 at the end of '05, so I guess I was too young to really have much interest in anything aside from Harry Potter and Britney Spears at the time Anyway, I agreed to go and see them with her. But despite having about 5 months notice to get into them, I'll admit I didn't have any interest in investigating them much, so I pretty much went to their concert only know Good Riddance and the singles from American Idiot which I'd heard around on the radio and stuff. Safe to say I was well and truly won over after I walked out of that stadium on December 14, 2005 Never looked back
Ellenkc Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Found American Idiot playing on tv, it was the musical equivalent of someone throwing a brick at my face I wasn't into rock at all, so it was something completely new for me and I thought their attitude was brilliant. The fact they looked great in that video didn't hurt either
JadedHaushinka Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I thought they were a nice band and I got into them pretty fast because I wasn't into music like that back them. Took me a month or so to become a fan. I've loved them ever since more and more.
Margo 39 smooth Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 when i heard american idiot i thought it was good but it didnt really click. but then i heard 21st century breakdown and i just was overwhelmed by it all. and now of course i thik they'r amazing.
marta_gs Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 so...the first time I heard Green Day... I was 14 when I heard Basket Case. (didn't even know who Green Day was, and also didn't know that song was from them). anyway, I immediately loved that song, I was so amused listened to it, you have no idea xD it was love at first listen the bad thing it was that I passed the next months wondering from who was that song then I knew Green Day with American Idiot, and some weeks later, I bought Dookie and txaraam Basket Case was there
Dookie93 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I'm ashamed to write this, but at first I hated Green Day with every inch of me. Then one day I was watching VH1 Top 20 Countdown (this was in 2005), and Wake me up When September Ends came on. Instant love, I then went out and started buying all their albums and here I am now
Maddy. Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I don't even remember. I think I heard American Idiot first and thought it was catchy so I downloaded the album and was pretty much blown away.~
annimaria Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 The first GD song I ever heard was American idiot, and I was just like 'ooohhh man, I need to hear more!' I found the album about 4 months later and they've been my favourite band ever since.
Krusties Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I think the first song i ever heard by them was Blvd. of Broken Dreams, but I didn't know it was Green Day. I thought "wow, this is a pretty good song." Then I heard Wake Me Up When September Ends, and I knew it was them. I was like "This is Green Day?" Because I knew this girl who was really into them and I'd seen pictures, I had expected them to sound different, but I liked them, and eventually became obsessed.
rocklover92 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 The first song I ever heard was American Idiot. I didn't like it at all. But later I heard BOBD and I guess, I like them since then.
Velocity Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I heard Boulevard of Broken Dreams and thought "This is a really good song." After i found out whose song it was, I remember thinking "Green Day is a really weird name for a band but they're still pretty awesome."
RockSeason Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 @zefron__fan I directly loved them. My 1st song was Know Your Enemy (clip). I said: "I like rock?!? Oh, I have to listen their songs!" (This was last year.) I used to hate rock. Thanks to Green Day, I really love rock, right now.
daughterofrage&love Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I was 13 when i first heard green day, Longview it was and i was hooked! A friend of mine at the time had Kerplunk, i was even more hooked, i became a HUGE HUGE fan after hearing AI. They are my heroes.
GenerationZer0 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 When I first heard Jesus of Suburbia on my sister's American Idiot CD I was like "This is really bad!" Then I heard Boulevard of Broken Dreams a bit later and I loved it and I loved Green Day. I have taken her American Idiot CD now. I don't think she ever noticed/cared
iloveyouisntenough Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Like many other people here, I didn't listen to music much before I started listening to Green Day, and when I first heard them, I didn't think much of it. I liked the songs I heard from them, but I didn't look into them right away. Then as I listened to more of them slowly, I realized how much I liked their music. And that pretty much lead to me buying their albums, and so on.
November's Storms Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I thought they were a good band, but I liked them just like I would any other band. I knew a few of their big songs and wouldn't change the radio if they were on. I never really loved them that much at first cos all the girls loved them and cos they wore eyeliner! It was only after I discovered the story in American Idiot and fell in love with that album that I began to truly love them
Holly Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I was twelve and I heard American Idiot at a party. I thought it was crazy rock music and totally different to anything else I'd ever heard (all I listened to then was rubbish like S Club 7 and Gareth Gates ) that one song had such an effect on me I never listened to any of my old CDs again and just got on the internet straight away and used my cassette recorder to record every song I could find until I could persuade my mum to buy me the album. Basically, they blew my mind.
xpoprocks&kittycatsx Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 My first reactions were when I first heard Blvd. of broken dreams when I was like 10, i thought it was good, but then when i saw the music video i actually thought Billie looked scary. once i got over that, i soon began to love them and now the mean so much to me that words cant express!!
CoreyGregory Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 My dad and brother listened to Green Day when I was young, so I think I just grew into it. International Superhits was the first CD I ever bought...Now it's lost
DistilledxSpirits Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I remember when I saw Billie Joe for the first time (in the American Idiot music video) I thought he was kinda scary-looking. I mean i knew the band before that, but until that point I'd never bothered to find out what they looked like, as strange as that is. But anyway I saw him in that and I remember thinking "Oh.. my... god... he's so freaky." haha
