St. Banana Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I feel really bad for this now..butt I have a friend that loves Green Day, and she was going on about them, so me and my other friend kinda payed her out saying 'oh he wears eyeliner' etc... I never made any comments about their music, mainly because I hadnt heard much and what i had heard i liked. But anyway me and my other friend continued to send pics of billie to each other saying hes ugly etc, but after a short while i started thinking hes actually kinda cute...but i didnt say it. My Green Day loving friend sent me an email with "like a rat does cheese" and a few more videos, and also burnt one of their cds for me After that I was in love, and went on to buy every album. Their music sounded like the best thing in the world to me, and i wish id known more about them earlier.
Li Sa Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 First I hatet them back in AI time POINT (my first "I hate everything" time ) and then it suddenly changed and when I now think back: "Damn I were a stuuuupid idiot"
Miss Hedgie Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I remember I was watching Kerrang around 6 years ago and American Idiot came on. I remember sitting there and thinking "Wow, this is fucking incredible why havent I heard of this music before?!" I then went out bought the album, got into some great music and I havent looked back. Plus I remember looking at Tre and thinking "He looks crazy like me!"
rinu Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 My first song was Boulevard of Broken Dreams and I listened it on radio.I loved the song a lot and search for it but couldn't find. After one year I heard it again on the radio and this time I wrote down the lyrics and searched. That's all
Johannamunter Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 My first song was Boulevard of broken dreams 5 years ago and I saw the video and I loved it from the beginning, I though that the video was really cool and the song was awesome
JadedHaushinka Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I heard their songs playing on the radio several times and I thought they were awesome, even though I didn't go to look up who actually sang those songs. Later, when I was watching MTV, I discovered it was Green Day, so I wrote down both the title and band name. It was Green Day - American Idiot that got me into their music. I've loved Green Day ever since. I can't live without them.
PleasedToMeetMe Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I first heard Longview 15 years ago when I was 6 and it changed my life.
PunkRocks and Coke Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 The first time i heard them on the raido it wasn't anything special for me. The first song I head was "Good Riddance". I liked that song but it wasn;t one of my favorites or anything like that. Then later on I saw the "Blvd. of BD" video and when i say Billie I looked like this > I thought damn thats the hottest dude iv ever seen. so naturally I started listening some of the bands earlyer stuff and i realized that BIllie wasn't just a pretty face but he actually writes awesome music. and from that moment on Green Day became my favorite band and i went out and bought all their albums, and i often wounder...what if Billie Joe wasn't that attractive, would I still have decided to look deeper into the band as song writers or would i even i even like them? I guess everything happens for a reason.
*Maria_Laura* Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 First time i saw them was when i was about 10 my cousin introduced me to them my first reaction was "wow they're kinda cool" after that i had a weird flashback and i remembered i've seen them before when i was about 8 and i happened to see the hitchin' a ride video and i thought it was pretty awesome . soon after that my cousin and I started talking about Green Day non stop haha it was so awesome that's how we became really close she's like a sister to me but sadly we're not as closed as we used to be. My cousin later moved on and stopped liking Green Day at least not as much as she used to like them , but i never stopped liking them and i'm still a huge fan to this day as you guys can see haha xD
GreenDay-Idiot Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I don't remember...it was on the warning album time...back in 2000 and I only remember watching waiting on MTV
*Maria_Laura* Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 yeah I remember i fell in love with Billie Joe when i was 10 or 11 haha I can't remember my first Green Day song honestly.. But my brother became a Green Day fan 5 or 6 years ago.. So I heard a lot of songs, but music didn't bother me at that age of 11. I liked the songs but that was it. And of course, you can't like something what your brother likes at that age. Well that's what I thought.. But at the age of 13 their music got my attention, and I fell in love with the songs and the band. I was hopeless "in love" with Billie Joe. Everybody ran away when I started another story about him. xD I think it was just my age.. A lot of people "fell in love" with famous people at that age. And Green Day was -and still is- the world to me. So, yeah. And I'm still a hug fan now. (:
insomniaticnimrod Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 i used to listen to pop music (my fave music was nsync ) around the time American Idiot came out i was just getting into punkish music...like one day i was watching music vids on tv and Sum 41's Fat Lip came on and i loved the song, so i started listening to music from that genre. then one day my mom was on the computer and she turned to me and asked "do you like the band green day?" and i was like "green day who's that? what a ridiculous name!" but then like however long later, i saw half a second clip on Billie during the American Idiot video..and i was like "who is THAT?! " looked it up...listened to American idiot, bought the album...fell in fucking love i was actually listening to an album where i liked every single song and didnt get tired of it rest is history
Dylan. Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Good Riddance. I didn't even know it was Green day. I was like 3 or something and my Dad would play that song all the time. It wasn't until I got "International Superhits" out that they became my favorite band ever.
Metanoia Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 i first only knew them from what i heard about american idiot etc......like in 2004/2005 i only knew bobd and wmuwse.........i liked thsoe 2 songs but didnt know much about the band.......started in novemeber 2006 and since then i adore them yeah
Billie's__Babe Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Well, when i first heard them and knew it was Green Day when i heard 21 Guns on the radio, i thought they were some shitty piece of shit but then Billie's voice got to me and when i watched them on the VMA's, i immediately fell in love with Billie (and the guys)
Erica. Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I heard BOBD on the radio when I was 9 or 10 and was pretty much like "Oh, this is cool." That was the first song I knew was Green Day, but I had heard Good Riddance when I was 3 or 4 and then didn't hear it again until I was about 10. I remember hearing that for the first time knowing who it was. That changed my opinion on Green Day. That's when they actually started to mean something to me.
Sharmellow Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 When I first heard of Green Day, I didn't think much of them. I was about 8 at the time and wasn't really into music. When I reached the age of ten, AI came out and I finally realized that they were a great band. So, I scrounged up all the money I had under my bed and bought AI. From then on, I saved up my money and bought their albums and shit. Great stuff.
Marki. Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I don't remember when I heard them for the first time, but one of the first songs that I downloaded (when I finally knew who they are) was Holiday and I remember thinking that this song is different than everything I've ever heard but I really liked it and my great Green Day life started
ludwiig Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I didnt listen to much music at all when i first got the warning album from my brother, but if i remember correctly i thought they were ok. When AI came out I immediately fell in love with the music and i realized how good the warning album really is
bat-chen Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Well, the first time is when I saw the music video of AI in MTV and I thought they are cool but then I started to hear more songs and become a fan.
cris_spain Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I was in summer of 2004 and in the radio put Boulevard of broken dreams. My first thought, (and I remember exactly the moment xD) was: "aah, Green Day. Their name is familiar. Now I have already heard at least one song of them." And it was the age when I used to try to take by ear the lyrics of the English songs, and I was happy because I could understood"I walk alone I walk a.." Obviously, my English level and my ear have improved notably.
P3AC3MAK3R Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 well the first song i heard of there's was time of your life, i didnt know it was Green Day, well i didnt really know who GD were at that time. I loved the voice, and thought that its unusual to have heard a boy band sing such an amazing song, and that they have taken the risk to do that, knowing that the song is slow and all, its not just about being punks =]
Tiffx Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I saw the American Idiot video on MTV and thought Billie was fucking weird. Then I heard more stuff from them, saw them live and fell in love.
