Emilie Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I remember loving them from the start, first song I heard was either Maria or Good Riddance and I was about four years old. Though when I first heard Billie's voice I imagined him as this tall brown-eyed man with sandy-blonde hair. I was shocked the first time I saw a picture of him.
son Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 i saw the american idiot video on fuse (rip) and said "wow, these indian dudes rock!" little did i know, they werent indian. the tv's color was fucked up, causing everything to look darker and making them look brown-er. then i realized it was green day, the same band i was forced upon by me madre in 97
BUBBA7012 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 My dad enjoyed good riddance and he used to listen to play it in the car a lot and I thought, Band my dad likes they must suck XD But a couple years later in like late 2004 I heard american idiot on the radio and it was like a religious experience for me.
Schlappy Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 i had heard green day before and loved them but i remember the first time i saw what they looked like was in the longview video and i remember being scared! i thought they all look freaky and frightening. haha how wrong i was I remember when I saw Billie Joe for the first time (in the American Idiot music video) I thought he was kinda scary-looking. I mean i knew the band before that, but until that point I'd never bothered to find out what they looked like, as strange as that is. But anyway I saw him in that and I remember thinking "Oh.. my... god... he's so freaky." haha haha thats what i thought too! only the first video i saw was longveiw and they look creepier in that one
jmax21 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I was 11 yrs old and saw the music video for American Idiot and asked my mom to get it for me when she went out. I was blown away by the CD, it was on a constant loop in my stereo. I begged my mom to get the rest of the CD's as time went on, and I suddenly became so devoted. Their music helped me through a rough time in my life, so it was so overwhelming to have that beautiful rush & release that made me realize, that it was okay to be who I wanted to be and not follow the crowd.
BringMoreKnives Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I first saw them on the cover of Rolling Stone in 2005 when i was 7. My mom had subscribed to that magazine and when we got it in the mail, she set it on the kitchen table. I had never seen a band that wore eyeliner before, so i was like "WTF?" ...Okay, i didn't really say that, i was 7 But i kept staring at the cover for weeks until i finally decided to read the article on them. Loved them ever since.
