Just Overjoyed Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Exactly... I think its funny that we have said many times and then someone would post something about how it cool they are going back to basics and i am like *facepalm* But i must admit i am guilty of not reading whole threads all the time.. Well I could see them releasing something that sounds like Nimrod, songs about various topics that are still more fast paced and punk oriented as a whole than the last album. I could also see them coming right back and making an even more epic, over the top album. Though I hope they don't try to make another opera...
boosho Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Well I could see them releasing something that sounds like Nimrod, songs about various topics that are still more fast paced and punk oriented as a whole than the last album. I dont see why people have a problem with a Rock Opera.. its not like they have opera music.. Its an album with a story.. But each song is still an individual song that can be listened to on its own.. Just coz the whole follows a story doesnt makes it even more epic and a lot of us can relate to each or some song.. And 21CB was not a rock opera, there was no story to follow, yes there were characters but even their older songs had charachters they just didnt have names.. Most song have charachters, some are obscure character and some are obvious but thats how poeple can relate to them..
Muttweed182 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Exactly... I think its funny that we have said many times and then someone would post something about how it cool they are going back to basics and i am like *facepalm* But i must admit i am guilty of not reading whole threads all the time.. Eh............. Just because you go back to "basics" doesn't mean you start writing about things like that. If Green Day went back to "basics" I think it would sound like "Murder City" "Letterbomb", "She's a Rebel" "St.Jimmy" and "Last of the American GIrls". You know more basic songs I guess you could say or more rock. I honestly would welcome a normal album without any concept. It honestly would be a terrible idea to do a third concept album. It would just become stale. It doesn't mean Green Day are getting immature or regressing if they release they normal album. It would still just as experimental. I think it would sounds like Nimrod meets American Idiot which I think would sound pretty rad. But hey who knows?
Red Lights Flash Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Yeah, I'm thinking their next album would be a blend of Nimrod/Warning/American Idiot. I actually thought 21CB would be like this but that turned out different... But either way, I have a strong feeling that we're gonna get an album like that eventually. More 'simple' songs, without losing the 'epic' feel.
valentinesandcigs Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Remember that Billie can say its back to the basics now but then he can change his mind a few years from now. I don't think they would be setting down a plan for a new album this early.
Kayfabe Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 A Green Day album with no cognitive meaning? I'm too young for this!

Guest Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I'm just curious and trying to get familiear with this whole thing but.... what you you guys rather see for GD's new album theyre working on, back to the basics or new softer stuff? personally id like to see some more back to the basics stuff, a little more edgy, no that my opinion is going to make their descion, haha. What do you guys think?! Thanks
Liam Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 i thinks there already a thread about this or its a thread the mods find useless
Jacob. Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 They should make a Nimrod-like album now with no themes through the album, just songs with themes
Guest Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 i think so too, I love the whole theme idea but i really like nimrod and warning
Izzard Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I don't really know what people mean when they say 'back to basics' I think Green Day have stuck to there basics....they've just expanded them. So if you mean back to basics as in there older sound than no, I am in no way a fan of bands that go backwards....I think green Day just need to keep moving forward. I think it would be really cool if they took a break from green Day and did some more FBHT stuff, that would be amazing. They could tour and ever thing! I think I'd just die...
Guest Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 thatd be amzing! I think id like to hear some stuff thats more hardcore, or like you said something thatll move them forward, something new, different
*Maria_Laura* Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I agree ! that would be really awesome! They should make a Nimrod-like album now with no themes through the album, just songs with themes
Valkin Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I would like to hear some more 'Stadium-Rock' songs like from American Idiot but more punky(?) for example St. Jimmy
gdpony Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 well ... not modern or back to basics exactly, but something different than the last two albums
Jacob. Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 An album with no recurring themes would be nice kind of like Warning or Nimrod
Valkin Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 An album with no recurring themes would be nice kind of like Warning or Nimrod Way to reiterate what you said before hand.
Guest Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 An album with no recurring themes would be nice kind of like Warning or Nimrod woooooww,,,,thats how id like it exactly!!! haha weird
Izzard Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 No disrespect to anyone here, I just don't understand why anyone would want another album like Dookie...I just think it would be a little creepy if they still sang about the things they did back than today........
