ChelseaWhatsername Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I can see why a lot of you are kind of put off by the fact that 21stCB isn't even a year old yet, and they're already trying to get some new stuff down - but it's probably going to be AT LEAST 3 years until this new record comes out. By then, it might seem like too long since 21stCB was released. I think it's an excellent time to start working on new material.
Guest st jimmy 409 Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 21st century brwakdown sucked american idiot is better
ChelseaWhatsername Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Okey dokes... whatever you say. But we're not discussing that here, we're sharing thoughts on the new, mysterious album-in-the-works. Which I think is going to turn out amazingly. Green Day just oozes amazing.

Oh yeah I agree it's always great for them to be doing demos and keeping the creative juices flowing. It's just irritating when articles try to make a much bigger thing out of it than it really is. And then people start speculating about a new album as if it's just around the corner. It's cool that they're doing demos but they do them all the time, it's not really anything to be excited about. So yeah it's not that the band are doing new stuff, it's that it's being hyped up unnecessarily.
gdpony Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I love how all the "news" has absolutely no substance. They're always busy writing new stuff. I know right! ... but still I love that he guys are always a topic Fuck you. I make threads to give Green Day fans news that I find that's not on GDA or greenday.com yet. I don't need people telling me that I should "think before I make posts" when I'm just trying to inform people. Why does it matter how many threads you make, especially if they are about new, relevant news about Green Day? If didn't post this someone else probably would have any way so no, she does not have a fair point. It doesn't matter how many threads you make as long as they aren't pointless. That's all your going to say? Wow, you know I'm right. Get off my thread ^^ please dont treat people like that! ... even if its "your thread" its made for people to post comments in it!, a mod can close it any second and even ban you for being so rude! ... everyone has their own opinion! ... if you dont like it, be the bigger person and keep things to yourself .. dont insult people for thinking differently!
darenmay Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 mtv makes news that aren't really news. as for mtv, i can't believe we missed some kind of a supposedly mass voting hysteria for gdcers. gd lost over panic on the first round.
GreenDayisAmazing Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I heard that today on the music 411. I think it sounds kinda cool. Anyways I'm sure I will love it because it's Green Day. I love everything from them. I will buy it for sure!!!
XxRedundantCastaway86xX Posted March 31, 2010 Author Posted March 31, 2010 I know right! ... but still I love that he guys are always a topic ^^ please dont treat people like that! ... even if its "your thread" its made for people to post comments in it!, a mod can close it any second and even ban you for being so rude! ... everyone has their own opinion! ... if you dont like it, be the bigger person and keep things to yourself .. dont insult people for thinking differently! You're right, I shouldn't be mean to people who think differently. I probably wouldn't have if she had said her opinion in a nicer way but I should have just let it go. Now I'm in an argument I don't want to be in.
NickD Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 i foresee their next album coming out BEFORE they turn 40. that's as much as a timeframe i see happening. it could come out next month, or February 16, 2012, for all i know. i'm just very positive they want this next one out before their 40th birthdays plus, what the hell does MTV know anyway? we probably would know more about any new album and songs before they would! fo' reelz? they interviewed the band. you know, face to face. there's video evidence of it. mtv know a lot of things before we do. many of the office workers and interviewers are die-hard green day fans and will do anything to break the news first
boosho Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I foresee their next album coming out BEFORE they turn 40. that's as much as a timeframe i see happening. it could come out next month, or February 16, 2012, for all i know. i'm just very positive they want this next one out before their 40th birthdays I highly doubt that would be something on their mind.. I just dont think age is something they would be too concerned about..
whizzingbullet Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Eh. Still quite vague. Setting up their 1992 stuff is cool though!
The Disappearing Boy Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 No, trust me they won't Green Day will always be a rock band my thoughts exactly. Lady Gaga is pop. Green Day is not Lady Gaga.
pisquano Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 my thoughts exactly. Lady Gaga is pop. Green Day is not Lady Gaga. Well, not exactly...Lady Gaga is shit, Green Day are pop-punk but some songs on the new record are pop songs
boosho Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Well, not exactly...Lady Gaga is shit, Green Day are pop-punk but some songs on the new record are pop songs This is an arugument that will go on till the end of time, Pop music is your boy bands and girl bands and your katy perrys and lady gagas that is POP music its a genre.. Green Day is Punk Rock band.. Shit music is across all genres you are going to have your shit pop, your shit rock, your shit heavy metal etc... it depends on your taste i guess.. But Green Day is punk rock band or at the very least a rock band.. Having mellow love songs, where you are not going to break your neck head banging to doesnt mean you are a pop band...
pisquano Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Having mellow love songs, where you are not going to break your neck head banging to doesnt mean you are a pop band... Who said that? I could agree with you if we talk about the dookie, the insomniac, the nimrod era. But Warning is mostly a record of pop songs (of a good quality, obviously) or pop-rock songs. American Idiot is a record of pop-pun songs, very good pop-punk songs 21st CB is a mixture of pop songs, pop rock songs and pop punk songs. I think you cannot compare Insomniac and 21stCB (talking about genres), and that's what I mean when I say they're making more pop songs.

I think we are getting a bit off topic here, but there are degrees of rock and punk-rock.. I would not define any of green day's album as pop... I know a lot of people do i dont see them as pop.. pop is like people who go on american idiol THAT is pop.. and you cant compare green day that.. But like i said this probably a discussion for a different thread..
pisquano Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Yes, we are, but it's a good discussion, it's not stupid...anyway, I'm ending my speech saying that I have never defined a Green Day record as pop, I said there are some pop songs and some others that aren't; and that's something you don't find in the first GD records. And that's all.
RobyRoom Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Billie Joe himself said that 21st CB has the slowest song they've ever done, slow doesn't mean pop, I know, but songs like Last Night on Earth, RHS or the beginning of Viva la Gloria kind of recall that pop vibe, though it doesn't mean that they're gonna keep following this route.
Armstump Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Well, after AI, they started to writing and recording also one year later.. So I think we'll have to wait another 3 or 4 years.
Izzard Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I think they mean back to basics as getting back to writing and recording...
Sanity Loan Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I think they mean back to basics as getting back to writing and recording... You are correct. Everyone is getting their panties in a bunch because MTV made it sound like Green Day is planing on making an album like 1039/Kerplunk/Dookie/Insomniac/etc..... all the "early" stuff

I think its funny that we have said many times and then someone would post something about how it cool they are going back to basics and i am like *facepalm* But i must admit i am guilty of not reading whole threads all the time..
Dylan. Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I would be disappointed if Billie started writing about masturbation and speed and his old girlfriends again. And I doubt Adrienne would be thrilled.
