Guest ☼ Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Wow. I was not expecting talk of a new album for a loooong time. but yay!
Salmonator. Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 1) Dude, you make a LOT of threads. You might want to think before you post. and Yay!
Guest Alan Creep Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Could Be good if he back to the sonority of the first albuns and with the same good lyrics.
The Disappearing Boy Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 surprised that we're hearing so much about the new album already. still, not complaining
Guest Honey Emerald Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 What is meant by "back to the basics" is going to be unknown to us until the next album is released. Just be excited that another album is coming!
boosho Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Could Be good if he back to the sonority of the first albuns and with the same good lyrics. I guess it depends on what you mean. I really can't imagine them writing about being social outcasts and masturbation anymore and I also can't imagine them writing 3 chords songs again. But if you are referring to having very fast song then yeh. But then again I think I think 21cb has really fast songs like Christian inferno, H&H, American eulogy. So like I said before the words "back to basics" are really up to interpretation and I will be honest and say if they produce another dookie like album it would sound weird. But in sure whatever they do will be the right fit for them.
Laura! Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I'm kinda curious what it sounded like on the old equipment.
Supermodel*Robot Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I'm not going to get too excited. I wasn't here for the 1 year anniversary of AI, so I don't know if all these talks and rumours are common or not. Either way, I think it would be silly to get too excited about the fact that they have songs in their heads. They always have songs in their heads.
saraHsunshine Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I love generic and mostly meaningless news that I could have made up

I love generic and mostly meaningless news that I could have made up thank you. I'm so glad someone else sees this the same way I do. I was starting to think that I'm the only one who thinks we really shouldn't look too much into all this talk about them writing songs. Yes the idea excites but nothing has been said that has any substance.
Lithium Doll Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 sounds good.... i didnt really like the last album.... it wasnt bad, but not all that good either
ParadoxAndPlaid Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I kinda figured out that they were going for a back to basics thing when they mentioned a while back that they were trying out their old equipment again. But good to hear they're thinking ahead. Another five year wait would be painful.
Sanity Loan Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Idk if this has been said (I'm not going to read every post) but the title of that article is VERY misleading. When Billie said "back to the basics" he meant just getting together and playing songs.... like they do before they start every album. He didn't mean "back to the basic (old) material."
Lithium Doll Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 ^yeah, they're just getting together to write songs, and not trying to do another one of these "rock operas", or whatever it is they call the last 2 albums..... thats what i'm guessing anyway
theeulogy Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 No matter what they're gonna do..I believe they're gonna do it right!
gdpony Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 thank you. I'm so glad someone else sees this the same way I do. I was starting to think that I'm the only one who thinks we really shouldn't look too much into all this talk about them writing songs. Yes the idea excites but nothing has been said that has any substance. yeah I feel the same way! ... its the same thing posted on kerrang, they just have different titles! .. I dont expect news from a new album in at least a year or more! or at least after they finish touring....
RobyRoom Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Tbh lately I had the feeling that they're planning to do something much immediate and "simple", I have the impression that they are looking further, especially considering that they're not pushing 21st CB so much anymore. Just a feeling.
elisa Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Tbh lately I had the feeling that they're planning to do something much immediate and "simple", I have the impression that they are looking further, especially considering that they're not pushing 21st CB so much anymore. Just a feeling. I think they are much more free now. With American Idiot they built up a much more solid fan base, they can do whatever they want now. they don't do much press anymore because they don't need it. I see big artists like Bruce Springsteen or idk even U2 who just put out a new record, maybe give a few interviews and then tour.
Tiffx Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Woah all this talk about a new album is getting me excited, to say the least. I really didn't think we would be hearing anything about a new record this year. But anyway,
Deniz. Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Oh yay. mh...don't know what to think about it. i'm trying not to get too ecxited about that. we will see but pretty cool
Hanna__ Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 "So maybe the new Green Day album won't be a return to their punk past. Or perhaps it will. As Armstrong pointed out, the finished album is still a ways off, and it's too early to see how it's going to turn out" Like the article says, we'll just need to wait to see what they are up to. But anyway, I'm kinda excited about a new album, no matter what
petros Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Just hope we won't have to wait 5 years this time...
The Grateful Green Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 didnt they say they were gonna release new songs this year? the ones they recorded in germany?
