7 P 5 (Kyra) Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 It hurts to say it, but that would kinda piss me off and make me sad it wouldnt be their style if they started with collaborations, specially with someone like hayley, I really hope it doesnt come to that, other than that ANYTHING would be great Well, they did do a little collaboration with Kathleen Hannah when she sang the "Nobody likes you" line. I thought that was awesome though, because I love Kathleen Hannah.
Maddy. Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Well, they did do a little collaboration with Kathleen Hannah when she sang the "Nobody likes you" line. I thought that was awesome though, because I love Kathleen Hannah. But she sounded awful on Letterbomb, ngl.
7 P 5 (Kyra) Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I wanna see them push forward. Don't get me wrong, going back and making a Nimrod-esque album would be awesome. But one of the reasons why I love GD so much is because Billie, Mike, and Tre' always push themselves to do something more, to dig deeper and make something amazing. I love how they pushed themselves far and came up with 21stCB, and I'd love to see them try to top that. It would be quite a challenge to make something even more brilliant and honest than 21stCB, but I really think they can do it. I like this post. where did you hear she was going to feature in green day songs? I didn't; I was trying to think of something I really wouldn't want to see.
pisquano Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 No, it's both. Warning is full of great pop songs like Church On Sunday, Castaway and Minority. Catchy, upbeat pop genius. That doesn't mean those songs aren't punk too. The word pop isn't an insult. Thank you, I didn't find the perfect words, but you have described my opinion perfectly..
XxRedundantCastaway86xX Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 I know a lot of people are saying that "Back to basics" doesn't necessarily mean making another album like Kerplunk! or Insomniac but you have to understand that Green Day has made two concept albums. Do you really think Green Day is going to make another album like that? American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown are brilliant albums but I think for any band, 2 concept albums are enough. I think that "Back to basics" simply means that Green Day set out to write two rock operas and they did, so now they're most likely going to go back to their older style of making albums - writing great individual songs that are not connected to each other.
valentinesandcigs Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 It's amazing how 4 words can generate so much speculation.
Maddy. Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 It's amazing how 4 words can generate so much speculation. Ikr? Wow, that's like my catchphrase.
PanicAttack! Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Well, we have two diifferent opinions then... That's fine, cause i don't think we're gonna agree on it - so let's leave it there
The Grateful Green Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 now what are all you guys gonna do when the album sounds like their earlier stuff
Maddy. Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 now what are all you guys gonna do when the album sounds like their earlier stuff crawl into the foetus position and cry like a baby, that's what
Salmonator. Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 crawl into the foetus position and cry like a baby, that's what ily.
Nele Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 crawl into the foetus position and cry like a baby, that's what Ahaha. <3 I'd actually like an album without a storyline. Just random songs, like they did before AI. I like their concept albums but I'd also like an album with their... ehm new-ish sound but without concept, names, stories.
Metanoia Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Ahaha. <3 I'd actually like an album without a storyline. Just random songs, like they did before AI. I like their concept albums but I'd also like an album with their... ehm new-ish sound but without concept, names, stories. right think so too ..... another concept album would be kinda too obvious :/
Rosie May Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I dunno, I think it would be cool if they keep evolving, I mean, there's no realy point in making another Dookie or something now, I dunno what they'll do next, but I don't think it should be another concept album, twice is enough.
Conspiracy. Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 yep, another concept album would be too much. but I still think there should be kind of a topic/direction for the record. For me, back to basics sounds more like 'easier' songs.
PleasedToMeetMe Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Please, no rock opera and no Hayley Williams. I would really like to see an album with songs in the same vein as 'Murder City', 'Horseshoes and Hand Grenades', and 'Lights Out'. When I heard 'Lights Out', I knew GD still had it in them and I think with this album they should, and just might, go in that direction.
Just Overjoyed Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 yep, another concept album would be too much. but I still think there should be kind of a topic/direction for the record. For me, back to basics sounds more like 'easier' songs. See I think this is interesting, and really determines how people vote. I put back to the basics because I take that to mean not a concept and faster as a whole, but I would never pick that if I thought it meant going back to simple, 3 or so chord songs. I don't think they'd ever do that.
Jaymee!! Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I love AI and 21st, don't get me wrong, but I'd love to hear some things about pure love and hate. No government, no topic to write around, just raw emotion about anything and everything.
Robin105 Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I'll love anything Green Day does. They could do a whole album of covers and I'll still love it.
Nova-Caine Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Right now i'd love a back to basics, I adore the newer stuff but would love some cranky and gnarly old punk songs to jump around to
The Grateful Green Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Right now i'd love a back to basics, I adore the newer stuff but would love some cranky and gnarly old punk songs to jump around to this. i think an album with about 10 songs that has like 3 epics and the rest all stuff to dance and jump around to, and maybe an acoustic ballad
OMNatalie Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I think if they went back to basics it wont mean them necessary not evolving more or taking a step backwards. I think it could be a good thing, be interesting to see what they come up with
CrimsonRegret Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I say back to the basics this time around. Yes on the more edgy type stuff please.
Juju Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 i don't really care. i'll learn to love it either way. i'm not partial to their old stuff or their new stuff. as long as it's Green Day, i'll be happy.
