Eirik Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Simple question I need to ask so I don't get in trouble: Can I take screenshots from the video, make simple graphics (sigs, avas, etc.) out of them, and post them in my artwork thread before Thursday rolls around? Or will I have to wait? You can wait until Thursday to post them.
Guest Shangri-La Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I'm totally not going to encourage anyone to upload the video or anything but if anyone here is my friend on FB feel free to look at my status...

Alan86 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Im not looking for a link or anything im just curious as to where the video leaked, Youtube, mtv, myspace??
Rebel07 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 why can't music videos just be performances with only the band in the video?
Teenage Kicks! Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 that was an odd video. I'll wind up being all about as it grows on me.
Guest Shangri-La Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I don't get the hate for the two girls, I thought they were pretty cool. I don't get it either! Holiday had dancers too and that was a good video.
Sanity Loan Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Im not looking for a link or anything im just curious as to where the video leaked, Youtube, mtv, myspace?? On some sort of multimedia website called BrightCove..... its for commercial use. You can buy their software. Obviously some other website is getting ready for the video.
Isabel Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Sounds stupid, but I really don't get the concept of this video. It reminds me of a +4 ad
sara_gd Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Oh, I'm Brat now! Sorry, totally off-topic. I guess we'll have to wait til Thursday guys
Guest Shangri-La Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 why can't music videos just be performances with only the band in the video? because music and film are two seperate art forms. i can't say it would be 'boring' if green day videos were just of them performing, but what would be the point? i like the idea of another artist taking a song and interpreting it through film.
Sarahnade. Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 why can't music videos just be performances with only the band in the video? Yes, or a concept that doesn't fail?

Thats pretty much what Know your Enemy was, but people complained about that too
Angela. Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I personally disliked the girls in this video because they had nothing to contribute to it; they weren't a part of the storyline in any way whatsoever. But with the Holiday video, the dancers kind of make sense. Let me try to explain. In Holiday (following the American Idiot storyline and the video), it's obvious that JOS has left his home of suburbia, and ventured his way into The City. And everything here is new him, so he takes advantage of it all - the alcohol, the prostitutes/dancers - he takes all he can get. So that makes sense to me. It's him partying and having one hell of a good time with those girls as he consumes a bunch of alcohol and gets shitfaced drunk before the 'lonely hangover' (as Billie would describe it) known as BOBD. But in this video, the girls don't represent anything. It's like they were just added for some type of flair, to spice up the video a bit, and I just don't think it worked that well.
gdpony Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 the two dancing girls remind me of lady Gaga ...I dont know why lol
LetItBeHappy Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 the two dancing girls remind me of lady Gaga ...I dont know why lol for the screencap I saw, they remind me of Daisy Chain xD

Agreed. Sometimes a performance video can be great, but it takes things to a whole new level when there's some type of storyline added to it. It gives it more meaning and makes it better. It's like comparing KYE and... I don't know... JOS. KYE is a good performance video, but that's it, really. It's Green Day performing, with a huge blast of fire behind them at the end. But in JOS, you have all these people, these characters... you put them into a unique world and give them a personality and struggles, something that others can relate to. And when you have something as amazing as that, in addition to a performance in a video, it overall turns out much better than just a performance video.

You explained this very well, I agree.
