Marki. Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 OMG, i love this song Not everyone can go and say "I'm coming clean!!!" to the whole world in a song To me, Coming Clean is one of those songs that makes me extremely proud to be a hardcore Green Day fan. It's one of their simpler songs, yet it says so much. Exactly It's a great song
AndrewW91 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 My favorite song of ALL TIME! This is the song that got me into Green Day, and it's helped me through some things in my life. I was pretty much in tears when he played this in St. Louis.
ANJI Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 One of the best off Dookie! Love listening to it...reminds me of when i was a teenager
†...HAUSHINKA...† Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Great song. I just love the line "I found out what it takes to be a man," because it is just a good message. It takes balls to be honest with yourself, and it takes courage and character to do so. You don't have to appeal to social norms. I totally agree with you... I love this song and hearing it live was absolutely amazing...it totally made me go crazy!! I love these 2 parts: "Secrets collecting dust but never forget SKELETONS come to LIFE in my closet I found out what it takes to be a man Mom and Dad will never understand WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME" If I had to choose some words to relate to this song they'll be: confusion will of understanding courage of understanding mix of fear and feel etc...
Vrock09 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Awww I miss this song, I haven't listened to Dookie in forever all the way through!! Guess that's what I'm doing during the next hour!
GoodRiddanceGE Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I was so hoping that Coming Clean would be song of the week! And now it finally is, that´s great! I really can´t say how much I love that song. It describes exactly how I felt at the age of seventeen, maybe even earlier. At least somewhere around puberty. That´s just how I felt at that age. Parents don´t understand anything you´re doing and you don´t even understand it yourself. It also reminds me of my first experiences with alcohol Great song I´m so happy they´re still playing it!
Comedy & Tragedy Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I was listening to this song yesterday! That's so weird. I think this is really one of those songs that everybody can relate to. Even though Billie wrote it about being afraid to come out, it's generally about how there's a part of you that everybody else, particularly parents, don't know about. I hate the feeling, when you know that nobody understands you, even the people you trust. Probably out of all the songs off Dookie, it's the one that teens relate to the most. Amazing song, totally deserves SOTW!
DecanoLP Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Badass song and the accoustic version is beautiful. I didn't actually know Billie played it as a part of his accoustic set, thanks for the vid
Isabel Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I love this song, I got to hear it live in Manchester! For years, I thought that the line "Now Mom and Dad will never understand what's happening to me" was actually "Now Mom and Dad will never understand what summer meant to me"
Metanoia Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 omg that is creepy since yesterday i started to love this song again passionately......i listened to it and and was like oh my god its so amazing i showed it to my friend today in teh bus on the way abck home from school and told her how much i love it at teh moment....and now its sotw XD so well deserved coming clean !!! remeber: I LVOE YOU ^^ oh yeah fantastic melodic good old green day song <3
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Aw, I love this song, it's great. and as everyone has already said and thoroughly explained, everyone can relate to it to at least some extent.
Holly Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Love this song very much I like being seventeen so I can quote the lyrics
Hermione Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 What a beautifully simple, empowering song. Absolutely love it
CrimsonRegret Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Love this song! This made me want to see Green Day LIKE NOW!!
Hermione Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Those two videos you posted are great J'net, once again it's so cool to see them perform older songs now. I love watching old performances of it too and I really like this one. Mostly because of the end
Supermodel*Robot Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 It's about time. Only three Green Day songs get the honour of being ranked by me. Everything else is just a jumble of amazingness, but three songs get to be named The Three Greatest Green Day Songs. This is one of them. "Seventeen and strung out on confusion" is basically the tag line for this year in my life. I'm almost scared to have my birthday because it will take away a connection I make with this song. I love how I didn't realize how short this song is until I saw the New Years video. I remember looking at the youtube time and wondering why the person didn't record the whole song. Then I ran to get my Ipod and realized that it really is just a minute and a half of bliss. This song is confusion. It peels away all the fears I have growing up, not just about sexuality, but about everything. This song is me. AH I LOVEZ IT TOO TOO MUCH.
J'net Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Those two videos you posted are great J'net, once again it's so cool to see them perform older songs now. I love watching old performances of it too and I really like this one. Mostly because of the end Oh, now that is simply awesome! I adore it. Thanks so much for sharing it, Hermione .
Bryn Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Been said, but I will say it again, great song. I agree with the comments that this song can be about coming out about being Bi-Sexual, or really anything you are grappling with you feel that no one understands. It is so much more difficult at 17. Although I say that, and realize at 36 I can still relate to this song a great deal. There are always things that are so hard to explain to others, things that people will just never understand...
newsflash777 Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 The acoustic performance is so gorgeous. Wow. God, it just amazes me how one band can have so much diversity. I love them through all of their eras, ever. It's crazy that I can say that about a band.
AdelineGrenades Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 To be completely honest, I didn't listen to this song that much. However, I had on AOL Radio: All Green Day the one night and it came on, and ever since then I've been hooked. I think it's a beautifully written and sung song. It's one of those versatile songs that everyone can listen to and relate to. And all though I didn't listen to it, I loved the Skeleton in the closet drawing. I started drawing it everywhere
