21st Century Breakdown vs. American Idiot

If we were judging on the album, I'd choose American Idiot......but we're not, we're voting for which song is good on its own...

so i'm going with 21stCB.

I like the way 21stCB kinda sounds like two totally different songs and the lyrics are just pure genius!

This is so damn hard... American Idiot was the first GD song I've ever heard, so it's the song that introduced me to them and kinda changed my whole life.

21st CB is a great song, I really love it and it's the first GD song I've ever seen life. Argh, this is so hard. I'm actually thinking about not voting at all.

American Idiot is losing, seriously?

I'm very very surprised, I thought that was one of the songs that were very popular both amongst mainstream and fans, but guess not.

I find it more epic and simply put better and more entertaining than 21st CB.

I would wish the same poll would be done in two years, because the results there could be a bit different.

Though there is almost a year now since 21st CB (album) was released I think there still are some votes coming from the fact that it is their newest material. (which again contradicts that 21Guns and EJN lost)

I'm very surprised. Not mad at all(as it could have been seen that way), just surprised.

I thought this would have been a walkover for AI.

Just to include, I think it would have been good to point out in the first post that this is for the songs, not the albums. I think there might be some people that have voted for the albums and not the songs.

I voted for 21st Century Breakdown. Basically just for the fact that Green Day have taken on the role and realized they actually are, ahem, THE GREATEST FUCKIN BAND IN THE WORLD. But yea, even though American Idiot was like, the major breakthrough, they cant exactly get a whole new crowd to follow them. And like, Green Day have like, just taken on the role to like, only please their 'taken' fans. That probably didn't even make sense to anyone. ?

My other thought is that.. If it's based on ideas of albums, like, guitar riffs, and just catchy songs, 21st Century Breakdown absolutely rapes American Idiots's ass. But if it goes to how like, or what the album did to their fans, then American Idiot absolutely thrashes 21st Century Breakdown's ass.

I get the feeling you compared the albums, when it was supposed to be a competition between the two title songs.

I'm sorry to say but in all fairness, the poll should be taken again and explain(!) that the songs are in the poll, not the albums.

The voting is biased now, to a big extent IMO. Though, it would get quite complicated to do it all over again. Just want to be fair, 21st CB is an awesome song I'm not saying that it isn't, and I wouldn't mind a single bit if it won, I just have a feeling the win will be a bit tainted.
