JaninaStar Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I saw them when they were in Finland, I think it was 2007 or 2008 (?). And it was so cool to see them, but I think the Sex Pistols died in 1979. They don't exist anymore, now it's just a bunch of old men performing the Sex Pistols songs.
save_a_drum_bang_tre_cool_chick Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I've never really understood the excitement about the sex pistols, they're just a bunch of wankers to me especially Rotten. He was an idiot when he was younger saying stuff that made no sense at all, and he's still an idiot. I pity him really, trying to relive his youth. Face it Johnny criticizing other bands doens't make you a hardcore punk, it makes you an old fart.
GDM Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I saw the Pistols live in 2007, and they were amazing, to be fair, especially Lydon. You are my hero. Thank you, Capn'! Yes, this is the brunt of it: Lydon is a master at what he does, even when he says stupid things. It's part of his character. And Green Day can take the criticism. They've heard it before and will surely hear it again.
justcause Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 “I see no gut-wrenching soul-searching going on there. Just pleasant little ditties. There's room for that, but I'm seeking more substance." I totally respect that the guy's searching for something in music that he's not finding right now. I think a lot of people - Billie Joe included - are saying exactly the same thing, and 'pleasant little ditties' hits the nail on the head. The irony being that if he wants something totally soul-searching, he could get past his prejudice - and wade thru the production - to find it in 21CB.

Wasn't it Billie that said that people say stuff about the band all the time but he doesn't allow it to affect him because it could disrupt the creative side of what he's doing..
Angie-Marie Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Oh wait, I remembered something else John Lydon likes: Judge Judy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXEszNeS_ts
Hermione Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 He's a sad bitter old man after some attention innit. Butter. Oh wait, I remembered something else John Lydon likes: Judge Judy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXEszNeS_ts Oh my god!
Reject-All-American Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I saw the Pistols live in 2007, and they were amazing, to be fair, especially Lydon. Ohh wow I didn't know they did anything anymore, kk i was wrong! but he still does butter commercials haha
Nobody_Likes_You Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 In my opinion he's just a embittered old man, trying to get some attention. He just sucks.
GDM Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Wasn't it Billie that said that people say stuff about the band all the time but he doesn't allow it to affect him because it could disrupt the creative side of what he's doing.. Probably. I think he stopped being concerned about it somewhere around Warning, for the most part. I wrote something for my blog a while ago that basically said, "who cares what other people think about Green Day?" We know what's up, isn't that really all that matters? And believe me, I have so many criticisms regarding the musical... but really, in the great scheme of things, what does it matter?
Guest Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 oh my god butter ads...? lmfao he sucks butter ad he said he did it so that he was able to tour with his other project, but still charged high ticket prices apparently. "Lydon has defended the move by stating that the main reason he accepted the offer was to raise money to reform Public Image Limited from the ground-up without a record deal."
Eeefaa. Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Oh for fucks sake. He should shut up now. I mean, the Sex Pistols were good and all the jazz, but they only had one real album, and he couldnt even keep a band together for six months... Bit of a Gallagher if you ask me
Annie, get your gun Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Who the fuck thinks he is?!!!! <Fucking stupid... asshole!> Green Day is much better than his old band!
Seedless_Reject Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I used to like John Lydon, but now he pisses me off. I mean what has Green Day done to him that he has to say things like that? Honestly
Ally Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 he is such a dick. i like the sex pistols but him as a person...hes a knob
GDM Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 he is such a dick. i like the sex pistols but him as a person...hes a knob I so concur!
Agija Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 he is such a dick. i like the sex pistols but him as a person...hes a knob I quite agree with you, Ally.
King Buzzo Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 John Lydon is the type of man who you need to have respect for, even when you disagree with his opinions.
Maddy. Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 LOL who even cares what he thinks? A lot of people say they hate Green Day, that's not really going to change what I think about them. It just changes the way I think about the person who said it. And he doesn't even know me and I don't know him so it's no big deal.
davegrohllover Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Well who really cares what he thinks. Hes just a jerk.
Nova-Caine Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 The thing John Lydon fails to remember is that The Sex Pistols were a manufactured band. Such a sour old goat haha!!!
Bubbles. Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Yeah, he also said that Green Day don't write from the heart? ... BULLSHIT. He's an absolute cunt. And "A showbiz construct" Says the one that goes on a "reality" TV show? And does a fucking BUTTER advert? AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH Edit: And about the Sex Pistols being a manufactured band as well... Grr. So it all the shite he comes out with is making him out to be a hypocrite.
The Disappearing Boy Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 He also acts like he was the sole inventor of punk, and that anyone who calls themselves punk as well is copying him/is someone to be hated etc.
