I understand what you mean. It's not as fast and pounding as a lot of their music. I think the first two lines just sucked me in, and after that, I was a goner! I really love it now for so many reasons.

I didn't even discuss all my thoughts about what the song could mean in the OP - just a few. I think this song has a lot of underlying meaning. I'm still waiting for someone to mention some of the thoughts I've had (it happens every week, so I'm counting on it!).

The same lyrics a lot of us are posting as being favorites. I relate to these a lot, and I think many people do. AS is illustrated by the amount of people posting them.

Amazing song, and a good choice.

I think the feeling in this song of feeling alone is just one about feeling a bit like you don't fit in. Just saying things you probably should not have said. It strikes me as very different from other Green Day songs about being alone, such as Boulevard of Broken Dreams, which kind of has more of a sense of hopelessness to it in some ways.

Man why didn't I think to nominate this song before!!

Its just so great, and totally relateable...the first time I heard this song I was just so taken away..I was kinda sad, but at the same time intrigued by how well I could understand what this 'character' meant

..Oh and J'net "Come together like a foot in a shoe, only this time I think I stuck my foot in my mouth" always puts a smile on my face before it becomes lonesome....but I never feel lonesome with this song..it just makes you realize some things
