Green Day is beyond words. I truly cant explain how amazing they are and the fucking impact they have on my life. They're the reason i started writing and playing music and they inspire me so much its crazy. I love everything they're doing, I love the whole direction they're going in. They are so fucking talented and brilliant and them expressing that in many different ways is truly amazing. One of the things i LOVE about Green Day is they're always doing something new. Every album is so different, and that is a very good thing. They're music shows how they've grown as musicians and just as people through the years. I love every album they've done and i truly believe we haven't even seen the best, the best is yet to come because these boys are conquering the world with there music. They are one of the biggest names in music, and they're so much more than that. I love the rock opera and the American Idiot musical is brilliant. They always amaze me with everything they do and i cant say it enough about how amazing they are and they truly are on a whole different level than any other band out there. Green Day truly is the best band in the world, they always have been, they always will be.

Totally agreed, all that i've to say. It's amazing the progress in the band musically and they also took a good way. They did a rock opera and they continue being Green Day. I don't know if I prefer more the "old-style", one of my favourite album's Insomniac, but just because I love it. I love the Green Day that played at Gilman's the same as I love the Green Day that will play here in argentina in a very big concert [i hope  ]. I love songs like 1,000 hours, Going to Pasalacqua, Rest, like I also love songs like Murder City, Before the Lobotomy, etc. I'm proud of saying that Green Day is my favourite band, because I admire them musically and as the persons they are. I know that they will surprise me with the next CD, like they surprised me when I heard 21st Century Breakdown. If they're the best band, it's because they passed for all they had to pass, and they were, they are and they will be the best band in the world, with all that they did.

I'm going to agree with Tedifer and say, it would be cool if the band could come onto a message board or something, maybe once a week or so, just to update us on what they're up to.

even if it's just half a minute of Tré snoring or something like that

I love Green Day for Green Day, I like the direction they are going in. And I'm pretty sure I'll love whatever they put out next. :)

Hey guys!

I work as a media representative with Green Day and I must say it's awesome to see all you guys chatting about the band and what you like, what you don't like! We're on these forums now so we'll be checking up to see what the fans are thinking and what you guys are all talking about!

I just have a question. Do you guys like where Green Day is going? Do you like the rock-opera genre they've started to take? And what works for you guys? WHat doesn't?

Again, it's great to be on here to see so many loyal fans!

I grew to become a Green Day fan later on in their career (see my profile page for the whole story) but I got hooked on them during the American Idiot era and think that 21st Century Breakdown is an effin' masterpiece. You have to work harder (with a looser concept storyline than AI) to "get" this album, but if you dig at it you'll find so many different musical styles being expressed in it, with storylines and intersecting threads in the lyrics that peel off like layers of an onion or a Russian matryoshka doll. And please don't forget that they just kick ass live like no other band that I've had the privilege to see in concert. Keep up the great work!

However they don't have to be super regular, they have their own lives and I have mine. Just a nice little "hello' every now and again would be nice.

I'll pass this onto them, but I wouldn't hold my breath :)

I also see there's a bit of a 50/50 going on with people either wanting to hear some new Dookie-like material or people thinking the Dookie days are over.

I can definitely confirm that there has been rumour amongst Reprise that there have been master tapes with songs on them much like the style of Dookie, however I can't confirm whether they're being used or what their purpose is.

that would be too time consuming. They have lives to run. Thats a ton of pressure to talk into a microphone just to chatter away into cyberspace. At least twice a month would be fine by me, heck even less i'd be ok with.

you can't live in the past. they need to keep moving forward. I find it odd that people still expect an album like Dookie when the headspace that we knew they were in at the time is no longer relevent to them.

I totally agree.

Like, you can't expect them to

write about jacking off and getting high

anymore. They're writing about things that

are relavent to today's modern era.

They're writing has matured and it sounds

fucking awesome and I love the direction

that they are going in...purely amazing.

I love Green Day with all my heart

and I'll love whatever they put out.

I'm proud to say that I love Green Day

and will always love them until the day

I fucking die.

Keep up the awesome work, dudes...

I know you will.

I love everything they've done. I don't really care what they do next, what direction they go in, etc. I've loved them for too long to fall out of love with them if they changed. I love their music, but also them as people, and I'll stand by them.

A lot of people are mentioning they want to see the next album from Green Day be something like 'Dookie'.

What aspects of Dookie? The music? The ideas? Lyrics?

Let us know!

I really don't like something similar to another album... i've just said that i like that Green Day surprise me because they're always doing something new, so... I think that when people say they want the next album to be like Dookie, they're talking about the music. They hope more songs like Christians Inferno, Murder City, and not so much songs like 21 Guns or Last Night on Earth. I like more that kind of songs too, but when I heard that songs [21 Guns, for example], I thought they were ok, and I love them too. I think they will know what to do when the moment to do something new arrives, and they will surprise us all again.

Billie actually said 'Last Night on Earth' was one of the most enjoyable songs to record. I believe there are more songs similar to this on the way.

Oh gosh, I don't even know where to begin. In the six years I've been listening to Green Day, they have impacted my life in more ways than I ever thought possible. For so many reasons, they made me who I am. Music is just so much a part of my being, and I give them full credit for that. Their message of standing up for what you believe in and just being yourself helped me through some of the most difficult times of my life. I've said this in several threads before - they're my "constant". No matter what things are going wrong in my life, I always have them, and that means the world to me. I have NO idea what kind of person I would be if I never found them, but I'm not really eager to find out!

I respect them SO much as musicians, songwriters, and people. They are ALWAYS pushing themselves to be better and better at their craft, and have not once given us an album "just because". They put so much work and effort into everything they do, and you know what? We as fans recognize that and appreciate that.

Being that I'm a writer myself, Billie's lyrics inspire me to no end. He has this way of putting those feelings that are SO difficult for most to describe into not only words, but excellent songs.

And the guys themselves - we are the luckiest fans on the planet, and I really believe that. They are so good to us. They charge so little for such an amazing rock concert. They try their best to give us updates on what they're up to whenever they can. They tour like hell. When fans get to meet them, they are always so gracious, polite, and friendly. I mean - there is nothing more we can really ask for.

As far as their music goes - I haven't heard much talk of 21st Century Breakdown being "un-Green Day". I thought it was VERY Green Day. They have always been about just going with their gut and making the music that feels right to them, which is exactly what they did, and the result was incredible. I have not once been let down by them, and 21st Century Breakdown was no exception. In my opinion, it's the best album they've ever made. Until the next one, I'm sure. :)

The reason I loved 21st Century Breakdown so much was that it was most definitely not just a compilation of singles like most artists seem to put out these days. It was a true album that in order to be fully enjoyed needs to be fully listened to. THAT is how music should be.

This band means the world to me. The best part is though - there is no #1 Green Day fan. We all love them that much, and I hope the guys know that.

Well if I have to be specific........ I kinda miss the strong bass lines that Mike laid down in the Dookie/Insomniac days. It really drove their sound back in the day, but it's also important that they've done as well as they have for 20+ years precisely *because* they evolved....you can't expect them to write about teen angst and masturbation now that they're in their 40's....they have much, much more to say than that and it shows. Yet there's that "wall of sound" that Mike and Tre cranked out on songs like Stuart and The Ave, Geek Stink Breath, Welcome To Paradise, yada yada, that *nobody* else does like Green Day can. I think some folks were looking to hear a piece of that again on 21CB and that part of the music fell short of their expectations. Maybe for the next album if they could amp Mike up just a bit more? :D

That is ether brilliantly good or horribly wrong.

I take my love ballads in small does if they aren't Green Day or A.F.I

It's funny you mention Cigarettes and Valentines in particular, I've heard (and ONLY heard) there is a mastered version of this song. Whether it will be released or used, I'm not too sure.

Mike's been doing a lot of very strong bass lines since the release of 21st Century Breakdown. They haven't been recorded yet, nor as far as I'm aware played with any other songs yet. But I can definitely say he's got some very new and extreme bass lines coming.
