To be honest, I would still love Green Day if they made a polka/techno/screamo/hip-hop/folk/country album. I'm sure they would make it amazing, too

this man has big ideas. You will go far

OK. Now that I've clarified what you meant, Green Day are usually too busy playing or in the studio working on new material. I know Twitter is one thing Billie likes to keep updated as often as he can, but as far as I'm aware, of late they've shot up with popularity to an extent that's making it hard to keep fans 'in the know'. I suppose that's why there's people like me around!

Thanks for the advice though! :)

Assuming you're legit....I think that when things get announced, they should happen on time. I mean like music video releases/interviews,etc. There's been way too many nights we've waited around on here for hours only to find out that what we've been waiting weeks for isn't happening. (21st CB music video comes to mind)

They could probably do an album based entirely on Star Wars and make it awesome hahah.

A polka/techno/screamo/hip-hop/folk/country album would be pretty epic though. There's a suggestion.

Am I the only one that's slightly skeptical about this? I dunno, it just seems Green Day doesn't care about what people think of them, as long as they're true to themselves. Why would they want to know which direction everyone else want them to go in?

Anyways, this thread may help your investigation. :)

Old GD vs New GD

Thankyou :)

Just to let you know, I'm more on the analysis side of things with Green Day. The purpose of this particular thread wasn't about what direction people WANT them to go in, it was more just to enquire about what works and what doesn't with the fans, mainly (so I've been told) to help with live shows, music videos etc. etc.

As far as their music and their message, no-one can tell them how! And isn't that what's to love?

I agree 100% and although I work with the band, I have NO standing in dates, tours, releases, interviews, etc. I of course have a good idea, but true to myself as well as my contract, I don't release anything. I gladly pass messages onto the band (or their management depending on what it is) but that's about it.

You certainly won't be seeing any dates and 'this is happening, that's happening' from us.

That's okay

And just to clarity, I don't think interaction between the band and fans during shows could get any better than it is, no one ever has any complaints in that respect. :)

Unfortunately, nothing. I'm not here to prove a point, I'm here to talk and read and relay what you guys are saying to the band or their management. If you can't take my word, there's nothing more I can do.

Thanks

If you don't believe me, I'm not going to argue with you about it. You would be suprised how many times I've read this same thing. I'm not proving myself, because I'm not here to have insider goss, or talk myself up, I'm simply here to hear what you guys are saying.

Thankyou.

I'm still all for my "Lock of hair" proof idea.

A lot of people are mentioning they want to see the next album from Green Day be something like 'Dookie'.

What aspects of Dookie? The music? The ideas? Lyrics?

Let us know!

i would say the music. it just sounds so different to music you hear today. and i was thinking about what they would be like if there music was like dookie but the meanings were like american idiot

I can't imagine them doing something like Dookie in their present era. But if they did, I think they should do the same music not the lyrics.

Something I love about Green Day is each album is so different than from the others, theyre all so unique and meaningful in different ways. Like American Idiot was so different than older stuff, and 21st Century was so different too and what i say is Green Day keep doing what your doing, keep making different albums, keep surprising us with new music and whatever they do its always mind blowing.

I don't know about everyone else, but I think Green Day's lyrics have evolved very well over the years, their new songs are mature but still have a lot of the wit and sarcasm that they did in the past (songs like Peacemaker especially).

I think, when people say they want an album like Dookie, they mean that they want Green Day to go back to their musical roots. I guess some people aren't as fond as their new sound as others are, or they just think the punk sound works better for a band like GD.

But I do know that I honestly love everything Green Day's put out, I mean 21st Century Breakdown and Insomniac are my favorite albums even though they're completely different. There's something amazing about all of their work and I love how no two albums ever sound similar.

Star Wars = AWESOME

Green Day = SUPER AWESOME

Star Wars + Green Day = :woot: *poops herself*

oh, I NEED that now

you can't live in the past. they need to keep moving forward. I find it odd that people still expect an album like Dookie when the headspace that we knew they were in at the time is no longer relevent to them.

Posted

I love the complexity of the music now, but it would be a nice little change if they released a Dookie or FHT-like album, in keeping with the musical talent.

Posted

I'm going to agree with Tedifer and say, it would be cool if the band could come onto a message board or something, maybe once a week or so, just to update us on what they're up to.

if they keep writting like they were writting in dookie, it would be awful. They're 30-something years old now, they can't keep complaining like a teenager! As I say, I love that they keep changing and growing with each album
