farley drexel hatcher Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I just have to say that the October 24th show in London was amazing, and that Mike must get through a million guitar picks with the amount he gives out xD. Do they ever talk about the shows, have favorites and 'special' ones whatnot?
Bohemian+Scandal Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Woa! Interesting thread!Do you have a name we can call you, Green Day person?I think Green Day should know that they make so many people's day with just those tiny little signs of contact. People go crazy when Billie tweets. They go crazy when Green Day shows any sign of life. I know people got a huge kick out of phone messages and behind the scenes videos and pictures. I'm not saying they have to do it more, because I realize their busy, but I just want them to know, it makes people go batshit and feel more connected to the band when they can see, hear, and read their words in a casual setting. Anyway, musically, I think Green Day should do whatever they feel like doing. It's nice when they please fans, but they should always please themselves first. As a fan, I'm happy when they're happy even if something is not exactly my cup of tea. One thing that's great about Green Day is that they do whatever they want. People have condemned them for "selling out" both in 1994 and in 2004, but I think it's just as important to not cave to public pressure as it to not cave to "the man"'s pressure. They should just keep doing what they want to do. When one fan leaves, there will always be a new one who's happy to take their place.
Princess Consuela Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Okay I have one question. Not very original but I'm so impatient to find out. I know you said more tour dates would be released soon but maybe you know something about possible Berlin or Poland show?
Smoothed Out Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 To try to answer all the questions I missed:DRAMA QUEEN/TELL ME WHEN IT'S TIME AS B-SIDESBillie Joe wrote these songs specifically to play live and has claimed there will be no studio recording of these songs. HOWEVER, Tell Me When It's Time To Say I Love You has been played in the studio quite a bit of late, so keep an ear out. They might very well be planning on releasing -GDOMG!! Ok breathe...I love Green Day!!! I'm going to say it again, thank you sooooo much for telling us all this and taking time out to speak to us. I think we all really appreciate everything you and Green Day have done for us all
Kaddi. Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Why didn't I visit this thread earlier? First of all, thank you for your patience and answering all those questions! Now when I have the opportunity to find out something I don't know what to ask Yeah, same here. I thought this was just another thread to discuss about whether Green Day were better before AI than now. But this is awesome, I'm gonna read this more often from now on. And yeah, I can't think of a question either, but whenever one will come to my mind, I know who to ask. Oh and just to answer the question in the original post... yes, I like where Green Day are going and that they always try to do something new. American Idiot was the album that changed my life and that's why it will always be my favorite album, but I also love their older stuff and of course also 21st CB, because it's so full of different styles and still sounds like 100% Green Day.
Smoothed Out Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 The Network is taking a break, as is Foxboro Hot Tubs. Billie told me the band is still in 'Green Day mode', as for them the hype of 21st Century Breakdown is far from over. But I'm sure they'll get into the swing of things before long and start doing more work on The Network. Thank you
Guest Green Day Band Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Some more comments/answers:GREEN DAY PLAYING IN FINLANDYou can thank Mike for that. He asked the management why they weren't playing in Finland in the original tour list and instead of hearing the answer, he turned around and said 'I'm gonna leave this room for 5 minutes and when I get back Finland better be on this list. In pen, pencil, fuckin crayon I don't care. We're playing Finland.'CONFUSION ABOUT SINGLE SELECTINGThe band chooses a song to be the next single, they consult the management about it and the management either approves or denies it. The process also works in reverse; the management can also ask the band if they want to record song 'X' as their new single. Again, Green Day have the power to say yes or no.-GD
XBlade1X Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Ah guys, I put my name in my post, and mine was after yours, he was refering to me.I see I thought it sounded too good to be true.Ummm... ok I didnt say anything :whistling:

I don't think the management and the record label should be allowed to deny a song as a single because this is the band who made it!

matteo263 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Question:How come they did not do an EAST JESUS NOWHERE music video?
skindogfuss Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 To be honest, I really LOVE the new Green Day sound. It's so different to their old stuff. However, I agree with the others, I'd perhaps like to see a much more rocked up (ie face paced, no (or a few) 'lobotomy' like songs). Maybe something like Dookie, with their current knowledge for music and something like Maria on the album? Maybe some Homecoming-like content as well?

Guest Green Day Band Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Just a few more of your questions:DOES THE BAND HAVE FAVOURITE SHOWS/SPECIAL SHOWS?Billie just told me yesterday 'all shows are special'. He's said this to everyone who's asked. He says it backstage all the time. 'Guys, all shows are special'. I know for a fact he hates singling shows out and saying they're better or more special. Quote time: 'every single show is the same. The same amount of better, the same amount of the best show we've ever done. The same amount of the best fans in the world.'POSSIBLE BERLIN/POLAND SHOWBerlin is definitely on the cards. I know the guys want to play there. As far as Poland, I'm really unsure. I'll have a look for you and see if there's any talk of it. At this stage, I've only heard about wanting to play Berlin.-GD

It's footage from some show.As for the videos, I think this one was the biggest disappointment. Everyone expected something special for this song.
