So, I ended up going to this tonight. No GD members, but the cast sang "Holiday," "Wake Me Up When September Ends," and "American Idiot." Unfortunately my video for Holiday and American Idiot didn't come out and WMUWSE is crappy, but I'll post it when I get a chance. Talked with a few cast members. Sweetest guys ever. This show is gonna ROCK BROADWAY!

Very nice. I was curious on what they would perform. Three songs... nice. Now, I don't think you have anything to compare it to, but how was Stark in his singing as Tunny? And do you remember who you met?

Of course I remember who I met: Rebecca Jones, Alyssa Umphress, Theo Stockman and John Gallagher (both for the second time). Stockman and I both graduated from NYU's Experimental Theater program, albeit many years apart, so we talked about that again for a second time and I told him that they were going to "fuck up Broadway in a good way." Esper, Gallagher and Stark all three sang WMUWSE and it was difficult to really distinquish his performance from the other guy who was at Berkeley. It was a nice performance. Sorano... I look at these people differently, knowing a few "famous" people in my "real" life. They are just people to me who happen to perform in theater and whatnot.

I also talked with Tom Kitt, who I saw at Joe's Pub the other night. Love his arrangements!

Everyone is super sweet. Can't wait to see the show again in April! Woot!

I wasn't trying to imply that you would forget easily; I just didn't know if the reception would be busy or not and how long you got a chance to talk to them.

I'm also not saying you should treat them differently because they're "famous" or whatever. I work in the entertainment industry myself so I understand treating actors, directors, etc. as "just people."

Thanks for the info t ann! Glad you got to go.

Sad Green Day was a no show but they find these things real akward I guess, plus maybe they've gone back home. I was assuming they were still in NY for some reason..

Will the performances be broadcast or put online or anything?! Does anyone know..

Also, was there a speech or something made about Green Day?

Edit: Oh yeah, if people with this channel can keep a look out for all the little vignettes and maybe tape them or tell us about them that'd be awesome! (Or hopefully the webiste just posts it all! I know it's so annoying having to watch hours of shit to see 40 seconds of Green Day related stuff.. Worth it though to be honest. )

Trina! You are welcomed! USA Network has all the vignettes up on their site now but I don't readily have the link. There is a link on my blog but also the original link on page 2 or 3 of this thread has the link to the other vignettes, too. That link is probably only Billie, I highly encourage you to take a look at the other honorees, too!

The person who founded Kiva.org, a great charity, was also honored, alongside some other increible people like Kathryn Bigelow (director of Hurt Locker) and Nora Ephron. The event presentation itself was short and sweet, introduced by an actor who introduced not each vignette, but just a short speech on each of the honorees. It was a nice event, slightly low key and a lovely bartender made me delicious drinks chocked full of Lushotology, LOL. I would keep an eye out for next month's Vanity Fair or their website, there are sure to be pics of the event there, since it was hosted by them

There was also a parting gift, a Fujifilm instant camera that takes little Polaroid pictures.

The weather here sucks, by the way! We are in the middle of an awful blizzard. It's been snowing since yesterday and then by the time I got home, the heavy winds picked up. I woke up unexpectantly at 5:00 AM and it's still storming. It's crazy!
