Kayfabe Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Oh yeah and in the american idiot bridge instead of leaving acapella they play the riff in the background which is wicked imo
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 ^ Oh I heard that version once! It used to be called Better Not Come Around but I can't remember where I heard it.I would also love a link to it if there is one Oh, I remember hearing that!
Bohemian+Scandal Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 He hardly ever says the "I wanna hurt myself" line in the first chorus of 80... At least I don't think he does. He usually just says "I just can't trust myself" an extra time. Not a major alteration, but just something I've noticed.
AnnA™ Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Old version of When I Come Around? I don't think I've heard (of) that. Do you have a link or something? ^ Oh I heard that version once! It used to be called Better Not Come Around but I can't remember where I heard it.I would also love a link to it if there is one Sorry, I wish I did. I remember I heard it on YouTube, it was an old recording from around the Kerplunk era. The lyrics were a bit different. I can't find it though... :/Edit: Nevermind, I found something:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMPK7cSaeXoThis sounds more like the original though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED6QgeSNa0M...feature=relatedA few lines are different.
PasalacquaBomb Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I only can find this one:But lyrics are the same.this version is awesome, too. It's not really changed but I love that drum intro :>
Hermione Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks for the links both of you! I enjoyed listening to all those slightly different versions.I think the Gilman one was the one I heard before. It's not that different sounding but he is saying "better not come around" and a couple of other different words, plus some of the melody is different. I really like hearing songs in their earlier stages like that. Oh my god that reminds me, has anyone heard the early live version of Longview with loads of different lyrics? "Fucking myself through the night" Plus there's a live version of Longview where he says "I'm feeling like a CAT in heat". Someone mentioned it on here ages ago and I spent ages trying to track it down, but now I've forgotten where I finally found it . I need to do some detective work.
Hermione Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 ^YES! I love you . Thanks so much for that.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Lol yeah I remember that what's up with the woman screaming 'ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh with the jesus christ" (or whatever she's saying) though?
Eirik Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Oh yeah and in the american idiot bridge instead of leaving acapella they play the riff in the background which is wicked imoYou mean they play it a capella instead of playing the riff?
The Disappearing Boy Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 h9bHG41bc40I love this version of Longview.
Juliette Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 In Jesus of Suburbia, instead of singing "Am I retarded or am I just overjoyed", he sings unemployed. But I think everyone already knew that lol.I like it when they change things up. It's unexpected and fun of them to do that. I never quite got that... when I heard it on the radio it had unemployed, but on the cd & live he sings overjoyed. Wieieierd. It says: "Runaway To your lost Tranquility and find your face in the gutterYour a stray for the Dregs of humanityThere is no place like home when you got no place to go"I think I prefer that. Though it wouldn't sound as good in the song, "dregs of humanity" doesn't quite fit.

Punk Rock Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 i agree.... i saw then live at sheffield arena on the 26.10.09 and they were amazing. The only downside was is that i was in the middle of the arena and i wasnt that close. im going to see them again this year at the manchester lancashire cricket club and this time im going to fight my way to the front. the gig is on the 16.6.10 and its an open stadium.. so this time im going to fight my way over to the front!

He says something else instead of "well it hasn't been the first time". I think he's saying "well it sure does make me crazy". "Well it sure does make me crazy, and it sure does drive me mad". I like that
