I do wish 21st CB was promoted a lot more. But on the other hand we still have Green Day to listen to, and less promotion= less Teenies.

^ Hmm, secret shows. Who knows? :D

Exactly! Although, if there were to be secret shows, they wouldn't likely perform here in Canada. At least around here in Sask, so the secret shows wouldn't really affect me.

I think all this comes down to is the fact that, while I think we're all very happy with the work the guys have done, and they've still achieved amazing success with this album...we're selfish, and we wish they had more success so we could see them more often in the media.

What i'm interested in knowing is why anyone cares? People bitch when Green Day is at the top of the charts and everyone and their mother is buying their albums, and suddenly we have a bunch of random people who are suddenly hardcore Green Day fans. Or you guys will bitch because they don't have that status.

I agree that Warner could have done a much better job at promoting the band - but how does that help Green Day? They're still selling out their tours, and that's probably the most important thing to the band. No, their singles aren't at number 1 - and it is nice to see them when they're there. But all that equates to in reality is more money for the label.

Yes, it's nice to see Green Day on top, and to see them get some real airtime on tv and radio and have everyone talking about them. But at the same time, there's a tradeoff to that, and I don't really think the band cares too much about it. Musically, they're on the top of their game and they know it. They're still making a shit ton of money, and we're still getting some kickass tours and more music to come in the future. So whether or not Warner promotes them more bothers me very little.

I care because Green Day have made a brilliant work of art that deserved to make an impact. Thanks to Warner it's had no chance to do that, and so many people who could've enjoyed this wonderful music never will. I'm glad it doesn't seem to be something that bothers the band but that doesn't change the fact that they deserve better. Great music is a rare thing and when it's wasted like this, it's a shame!

Hermione said what I was about to, I think Warner have failed the band big time on this Album.

Yeah, it's not about the band being everywhere and being on top, it's about getting recognition they deserve. The way the label have handled things is totally out of order and it's the right way to go to get a lesser known band on its last legs. Fair enough Green Day may never have to worry about that, but it's besides the point. And at the same time I don't see why we shouldn't get something back every once in a while - a decent single, b-sides, that sort of thing, that hasn't been totally botched up.

To be honest havivng them all over magazines and music channels isn't really what

What Hermione said is my thought exactly. I think that Warner was a little disrespectful of Green Day hard and honest work.

I am still confused as to whether EJN and 21st CB were ever actually released as singles :/

i just hate WMG and its affiliates in general.

they over-publicized their last album to the point where it was almost a joke,

and now they're barely promoting this album at all.

its almost as if Warner wasn't even keen on the new album,

completely disrespectful in not giving the band the credit they deserve.

they still havent officially let the US have the latest video, that may cost them a shot at the Grammys for best video of the year. because face it, KYE and 21Guns definately wont bring home many awards.

they're still pulling shit with youtube,

and hurting John Roecker in ways unimagineable with the GD shorts, HLAG, and his unreleased music videos.

Green Day should seriously consider switching over to Adeline Records, because im just about done with supporting Warner.

i dont even buy merch anymore from them, i only buy from independent sellers just because i dont want my money going to them.

as far as new single releases go, im kinda glad they arent. i hate it when my favorite songs go mainstream top 40 and then every little kid and their mother is going "LYKE OMG I LUV PEACEMAKER!!!"

I'm sad to hear that in the US 21guns hasn't been succesful and that it isn't going to win any award. In Europe it did great, the single was on the radio every 2 seconds and on tv :/

I'm sure if Green Day had a real problem with Warner, they'd know about it. Since when has Green Day stuck with something they've not liked or if they've had a problem with something when have they not done anything about it?

They would leave if they had a real problem with it.

I doubt it, its called being tied to a contract.

How long are they in the contract for?

Just fantasizing but maybe when there was Rob Cavallo they were more free, he seemed more than just a producer, he seemed to really believe in them :) Sorry, this is totally random.

Posted

^ yea in one hand, i really dont like the whole idea of Warner at all and obviously the producer change created a fabulous record however when i first heard Rob wasn't going to be on board the GD express, i felt kind of upset.

i wonder if he'll be back for the next record if if Butch will continue..

well I think the promotion for the 21st century Breakdown single wasn't that good they`re still playing only 21 Guns on the radio but I wouldn't say they failed :)

I've never been a fan of Warner as a music label, the amount of times they have fucked over their own bands is ridiculous. I've noticed that the promotion is very weak this time around, I have no idea why, seeing as its their first album in 5 years and deserves all the hype and promotion it can get. With regards to the break during touring, I think the guys deserve a rest. This tour has seen them go all over the world in the space of 6 months. I'm guessing they will take time off before the summer, start touring again in the summer and then do more US dates in the Autumn. I am only guessing of course, but that would make the most sense.

It would be a terrible shame if there was no more singles though, we could do with at least one more seeing as there have only been 3 videos (not including the sham that is the EJN video). Who knows though. Things relating to Green Day tend to be rather unpredictable anyway.

Warner should've got off their arses and done more promotion for 21CB- especially in England where the radio seems to forgotten they exist. However, touring for months must be absolutely exhausting, so I think it's good they're taking a few months off

THEY HAVEN'T BEEN HERE IN 12 YEARS, THEY MUST COME THIS YEAR

and here NOONE cares about their new CD, 'cause if it hasn't been promoted in the US, how can it posibly be promoted here? I just want a new DECENT single and tour in southamerica...

although, I have a theory of why Warner hasn't promote more the CD. Let's face it: People don't buy records anymore, everyone just download the mp3 from iTunes or download it ilegally. The only ones that buy CD's are the fans, and Warner may thing "oh, the fans must know that a record is out, so we can just rest our heads in our money beds". That's just my idea.

Posted

^ that's a good theory :/

Don't know if it counts but yesterday I dreamt about GD and I was I asking Billie if there would be a south american leg of the tour and he blinked to me, not like this  but more like "hey, that's for sure"

Posted

No, I've noticed it, too. Green Day said they'd come back to the US... but when? I mean, he's like "spring or summer or fall" OH HOW HELPFUL. If it's going to be spring, they better hurry up... They can't tell you 2 days before the tour starts when the dates are.

^^Hey, I still buy records. >:(

I still need to catch up with the whole downloading frenzy.

I'm happy that it's not all hyped up like American Idiot was. I know it was pretty epic, them having all that success etc. But now it just seems more ~intimate. Just the band and the fans. Idk.

I have to agree, that theory is proving to be very true with most things.

I also have to agree that Warner sucks. They fuck everyone over it seems. The promotion here where I live was...oh that's right. None. Except small posters in Hot Topic windows a week before the album came out. At music(ish) stores, they had little displays the day it came out, but by the next Tuesday when the next weeks albums released it was ALL gone and changed to Eminem. The lack of singles and videos also annoys me. The only song I've ever heard on the radio is 21 Guns. The FBHT got more air time here, and When I Come Around is constantly being played in restaurants, malls and movie theaters, but new stuff? Nope. A few weeks ago I had someone ask me if GD had a new album, they hadn't heard about it yet. And it's been out over half a year. So yeah, I agree that Warner has failed to promote them. That's why I'm here :D

As far as them touring, I can see them taking a break this spring. They have been playing for almost a year. I don't really care when the US dates are, as long as they have more.

I agree :D I download music but if it's a band that I really love, like Green Day I prefer to buy the album. I think as a fan I have to do it. also, I feel more proud and happy when I have Green Day album.

American Idiot was more hyped cause it was all new. they changed. they grow up and everyone, including were shocked for good and bad and also, many new people started to love them, like me. but 21 CB is like continuity to AI, not that it's bad. is just not so new for the media.
