Not one of my favourites either, but it's still a great song. I also love the way Billie's singing in it. And I can relate to the lyrics.

THANK YOU J'NET

This is in my Top 3 list of Green Day songs. I don't know what it is about it, but I love it so so very much. I've always been drawn to it, and I would kill someone to hear it live.

absolutely this, I think many many many many many (did I say many?!!) people asking it like "song of the week" :D

I love the theme in this song. I totally know the feeling when I'm locked up in my room, angry or depressed, and I just want to be left alone, but people come nagging asking what's wrong or telling me to not be so upset about whatever it is. I'm very introverted when it comes to my emotions & don't like letting people in or telling them what's wrong with me, so this song just explains perfectly my frustrations when people start to pry.

exactly the same...plus, this song gives me a huge energy, I don't know why, this song gives me a sense of "frenzy", something that bursts from that hurricane of feelings everyone can come across...have you ever seen the movie Billy Elliot??..there is moment during the movie when the protagonist arrives to a kind of boiling point, all around him is bad and there are no way to elope that state of sorrow, so he absorbs everything and than..."explode"..he starts to dance closed in a bath, then he goes out and dance trough the streets, and all that flux of feelings, became an incredible energy and he can't stop move and run...so..sometimes I feel in the same way and this song for some strange reason simply makes me go crazy... I think that "I want to be alone" is not really like a "fuck off, I don't need anyone " but more like a way to say I need at first to understand what's going happen, in this moment I'm my enemy and I need to fight with myself, sometimes the "dark" we see around comes from our "black" eyes..we have to start relate with ourselves then with the others..

I love this song so much! I really identify with it, when i'm upset I always want to go into my own little world, and people can get on my nerves easily. But I usually end up putting this on, and it always helps me feel worlds better  It's just an awesome song.

And I admit i had to cheat with google for Greta Garbo, haha!

This is very perceptive! Thanks for sharing your insight.

This is one of my favorites from 1039 SOSH. I love the way Billie sings the line "Please don't think I'm crazy". He sounds very desperate and sincere. Also I think this song is a great example of "old school" Green Day. The way Billie kind of stretches the words pretty much screams classic GD.

to be honest, in the past, i hated 1039/smothed out slappy hours but now i love it (the only song i CAN'T listen is I Was There) and i love "I Wanna be Alone" because... i don' know, i love the guitar riff and the lyric it awesome.

i don't know but i really love that song

In honor of Greta Garbo (how many of you got that without resorting to Google?)

I VANT to be alone :D

I like this song, it's funky and it makes me want to dance. It used to be my least favourite Green Day song just because Billie's tone of voice is a bit annoying in it, but it doesn't bother me now and I love singing along to it. Like pretty much every person in the world I can very much relate to the lyrics at times - I want to be alone!
