Minority_GD Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I love this song live.I makes me happy and sad at the same time =)
dolce Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 The studio version - after the false start and the 'fuck', when it kicks off and gets going, I always have the sense of someone with their foot on the treadle of a spinning-wheel. The wheel goes round and round, and the song spins, inward and outward, from the pain of a moment in time to the forseeing of its greater meaning - sometimes the experiences that we would never consciously seek are the ones we really need, and how we get thru them is what makes us who we are.The true depth and beauty of this song is in its vision of time - the great hand that grabs you by the wrist, whispers that there's something greater beyond the trials of a particular moment, calls on you to have faith. Whatever the awards and fame a band can have, I think it's so much more meaningful to have written a song that people reach for when there's a sense of something ending and something else beginning, that threshold of uncertainty - and even more so, for the times when the world comes crashing down and what's beginning in that moment is distant and unclear.Beautifully said and so true. The mark of a good songwriter is that they can write a song that not only applies to their situation, but can reach others and mean something completely different to them, yet be just as powerful. The thing is though - this song hasn't just applied to one happening in my life. It's applied to several. This song doesn't remind me of one particular point in my life - it reminds me of many different points, at different ages, for both good events and bad, with both anxious feelings and excited feelings. That's why Green Day's music is better at marking my life than a journal ever could.

kurtcobain Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 good riddance was a personal favourite of mine it breaks away from the mould and adds something completley new to the album.
luvgirlcl Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I'll just say two things: I love this song to death (because of a bunch of great things people have said already), and I can't believe it hadn't been SOTW before

ChristiansInferno92 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Good choice, even if it is different from other Green day songs, still brilliant.

Monica. Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 this song live gave me tears, for one, this song is beautiful and second, the show was about to end... :'(
Uva Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 When I started to listen to Green day I didn't like Good riddance a lot, I thought it wasn't like really Green day song. But about a year ago I found out how deep and heartfelt it is.
Undómiel Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 I don't care what people say about this song being an archatypal prom song or that nobody associates it with Green Day anymore; I just think it's a really beautiful song and every time I hear it it has so many memories attached to it. This song will always be special to me, whether people slag it off or not.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I am in love with the arrangements made for this song for the musical. The first time I heard it I wasn't *that* sure about some parts, but I've grown to love every thing of it. It's different from the original, got a different feel to it, but it's great
Burnout98 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 This song was used at my graduation. And a Green Day concert that i was probably going to go to, was on that same night. So i guess i still got a bit of Green Day out of that night! This song surprised me when i first listened to it. I didnt think it was Green Day at first. But it was such a wonderful song, and Time Of Your Life continues to be one of my favourite songs from Green Day.
