DecanoLP Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Happy Birthday =) I like this album, it as some of my favourites on it (Going To Pasalacqua, At The Library) but the rest is much better.
Nele Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I heard they were half brothersOh alright then, told ya I could be wrong.
**She** Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I found this information about Billies brother:Billie’s parents were very musical people, which obviously had an impact on his life. His mother, Ollie Armstrong, was born in Oklahoma and had 12 sibilings. She wouldn’t move to California until later in her life. She could play the piano and enjoyed country music. Prior to her marriage to Billie’s father, Andrew Marciano Armstrong, she had one child (Alan). Alan having a different father didn’t affect his relationship with his other siblings, and they insist that no one refer to him as a “half-brother”.It's from this website: http://www.geekstinkbreath.net/greenday/ar...the-armstrongs/btw, happy birthday!
Deniz. Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Yay, Happy Birthday 39/Smooth and also happy birthday to allen

Sarahnade. Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Ahahaha, aww I love Billie's tweets. <3Happy anniversery 39/Smooth! Wow, 20 years. That's awesome.
Princess Consuela Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 The title has always confused me Now we know where 39 came from but how about 1,039? And what does slappy mean? Is it like stupid or boring? I saw that on twitter this morning and all I thought was I was 1 years old when this was recorded && loads of you weren't even born yet. It's such a weird way of thought.I think this was the 3rd or 4th album I listened to when I was getting into them. It's good but not one of my faves.I knowwww. I feel so weird when I listen to it or watch early GD shows realizing I was an infant then. It also makes me quite emotional, might sound stupid, but it's kind of like watching your teenage parents pictures or something like that. I think sentimental is the right word Nah, I don't think they are half-brothers, I could be wrong of course. They are. Billie's mom divorced Alan's father and then married Andy Armstrong
Library Girl Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 HAPPY BIRTHDAY to 39/Smooth! and to AlanI LOVE THIS ALBUM!

Billie's mom divorced Alan's father and then married Andy Armstrong Slappy was Mikes dog, but again, I could be wrong.Yes Ania, I alreay read the post where it says that. edit: Yay, I wasn't wrongThe dog on the cover of Slappy was known as Mickey. "Slappy" was a nickname given to him by Mike Dirnt's friend Jason Relva.from wikipedia.

Is it like stupid or boring?39/Smooth got it's name because Alan was turning 39 at the time, and I think I heard some audio of Billie talking about how they were on some road, and it was really smooth or something, and they thought it sounded good- 39/Smooth. But I might just be remembering something wrong. And 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is a compilation of the album, and EP's and a compilation song I think, so they just combined all the names. 1,039 comes from 39/Smooth and 1,000 Hours.

Mayra Vicious Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I saw Billie's tweet on twitter few minutes ago Happy birthday to 39/Smooth, and Alan Wow, I was 12 years old when the album came out
Sarahnade. Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 ^^Sure. Yeah I read in a book a while ago that the band (didn't specify who) were saying the word smooth a lot while putting finishing touches on it. If I were forced to pick a favourite it might have to be this one xD At the Library is one of my all-time favourites. Happy anniversary 39/smooth and bday Alan!Ohhh yeah that's why they got smooth, I forgot about that. Happy birthday to Alan too.If I had to pick a favorite off of 39/Smooth it would have to be 409 in Your Coffeemaker. It's just such a great song, but every song on that album is good.
