Green Day's next album

I think China is a great idea. American Idiot and 21CB are saturated with American culture and politics - 21CB to the extent that it's claustrophobic - and it makes artistic sense to gtfo and go someplace where none of those references apply.

I want a fast punk album, with no story line and no songs over 3 minutes. That would be awesome.

hmmm i actually would like to see what would happen if they did a quiet more acoustic album i think it would bring out alot of great song writing!

I want an unplugged album, I think that would be pretty rad. Deja vu or whatever, but I think there was a thread like this before and got closed. Anyway, I'm rooting for an unplugged album even though that'll never happen.

I'd like to hear more songs, like Hearts Collide and Lights Out.

^^They are going to make a record in China and call it Made in China. IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN.

And I'd like what Amy said too. I do like their longer songs, like JOS and stuff, but it would be nice to have another fast, quick album like Dookie or Insomniac. I don't want them to re-write their old songs; I want them to write like they did then, but after all the albums they've made, the new success they've had, I think if they wrote songs that sounded like they came off of Dookie, they would still sound different.

I don't know if that makes sense..It's like, they've experienced more, Billie has more to write about, they are older now, etc.

I'd like to hear more songs, like Hearts Collide and Lights Out.

Lights Out is one of my favorite Green Day songs everrrrr.

I'd love to hear more songs like that.

^Made in China would be a great title!

And I agree, nine minute behemoths are great, but there's a lot to be said for a three-minute three-chord fast punk song.

Didn't Billie say at one point that they were thinking of doing a quiet, acoustic album?

I don't care what they do next, I'm sure I love anything they'll put out. :)

that'd be awesome! & I was reading that a few ones would like something more like "what they used to do" but I have to disagree... I'd love to see which direction they'll take now.

They've made the greatest records... so I'd like them to keep that way y'know? I'd love to see how they get over themselves once again :D

^Yeah, every record they've made has been different than before. If you look at the change especially between Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod, Warning, and to American Idiot, those are all so distinct. I'm excited to see what they will do next. 21CB blew my mind, so I have no idea what to expect for the next album.

omg that would be epic!

I don't think they'll stop with the social commentary, but I don't want them too! I love that they care about the world!

And I love that they're so classic now, but still making it Green Day!

I hope they don't have all the songs connected with characters and stuff. I don't like their new stuff all that much. I mean, I do like it and think they're good albums, I just prefer their old stuff. I'd LOVE an album like Warning. I hope he goes back to writing about himself.

Awh, I  you, too.

Don't forget that they already have recorded two new songs recently.

Green Day always seem to want to better themselves and make the best music that they can, so I think that they'll probably try and top 21st Century Breakdown. I read somewhere that Billie didn't want to record Restless Heart Syndrome because it was a song that he could see the band doing 5 years from now, so I think we'll be hearing more songs like that.

More songs like Lights Out! God I love that song.

I'm honestly kind of tired of the new album already. They should start regressing. The whole "evolving" of their music has gotten old in my opinion.

Posted
they'll do a Lady Gaga and start appearing in freaky video clips in nothing but leotards and singing about disco sticks.

This!

To be honest, I would be extremely happy for them to go back to their roots, i.e. Dookie, but I can't see it happening, as most other people are saying, they have come a long way from that. But it will be stressful, to say the least, for them to top their last two albums because of their success. But I have faith in them - even if their next project is a decade in the making. :)

I don't think they'll ever get the point that younger generations are going "who are they?" like most kids these days (that I know) do with bands like... AC/DC, for one example. No matter what they do.

But that's just me, hoping they go back in time with the next album, because I love their early stuff so much.

Idk if you guys have heard this interview or not but out here in Colorado, our radio station had an interview with Billie Joe and he said they are constantly working on new ideas so believe me when I say this...Its still the beginning of Green Day.

I really hate to say this, but I think, for Green Day to really keep this huge streak going, they need like a 7 or 8 year hiatus with absolutely no activity. Maybe a FBHT show or a Network e.p. But that is all. Then they need to come back with an album full of hate and anger but it still contains one song that can change the world. This will make Green Day the greatest band in the world again.
