Alan86 Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 My Prediction is that it will be out in 2014 and it'll be huge. They release there most successful albums in years that end with a 4 Dookie 1994A. Idiot 2004Seriously though im sure what ever they come up with next will be brilliant
Velocity Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 or maybe another side project or a Network album...Imagine if they started a third side project band? Like them doing a hardcore punk or heavy metal album under a different name. I can just imagine. As for Green Day, I think it'll be out in maybe 3 years. It probably won't be as 'epic' as the last 2 albums. Especially with the fact that 21CB wasn't as popular as AI, and so now they don't have as much pressure to create another epic follow-up. I think they'll just do whatever the hell they want, maybe it'll be a mix of regular rock songs as well as some powerpop. Whatever it turns out to be, I have faith in them.
Comrade Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I wouldn't mind a more 'back to basics' stripped back feel to a new album. They are getting quite a retro feeling these days, and 21CB had quite a 70's feeling to it that their previous work. I wouldn't at all mind a faster, more experimental album with the production stripped back a little. A bit balls out y'know?
Princess Consuela Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 When it comes to this band, I really don't know what to expect. It's been exactly 6 months since 21st CB was released so it's a bit early to talk about their new album. Personally, I wouldn't mind them quitting this whole concept album idea and record some more ironic 'rough' punk songs. As much as I love 21st CB and AI I'd like to see some change. And I bet I'm not the only one. The thing is, even though Green Day love their fans, they won't come back to their roots just to please them. And I fully respect that as it wouldn't be a completely honest album. Like you know, 'here you go, second Dookie, are you happy now?' That's the way I see it, at least. What I like about them is that they do what they feel like, and the great thing is it's so fucking awesome.
shophia__gd Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I love the old punk rock songs, but I also love the new albums. I think they gotta do what they feel like doing. They'll never let me down, and that's for sure.
minorityxdisturbed Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 They will surprise us like always, but I hope that they won't take around five years to make it, but I would like to hear more ironic songs, faster, maybe the mix that with a little about song kind of this last one, but I know that I would like it anyway, you never know what they are gonna do!
valentinesandcigs Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 it would be cool if they started a whole new side project and played in like a retro punk style like the sex pistols or the ramones and of course the network would be epic too
Ryan And The Ave. Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I think they should follow on with the 'rock opera' theme album but also in the months before release a 'teaser' album containing 'back-to-their root's stuff, like they did with the LNOE EP.
Miss Hedgie Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I want ironic, fast, scattered songs This.
valentinesandcigs Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 they should do a rock opera except with fast punk songs that would be epic!
1000SlappyHours Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 To be honest, Green Day are getting older, and i think they should do something similiar to Warning. If they try and make another epic rock opera, i'm just afraid its gonna sound too try-hard. Personally i don't think they'll play 21 guns next tour, IMO they'll replace with their next ballad, like they did with WMUWSE. Of course, 21 guns works better during a concert than WMUWSE so i guess thts why they replaced it.
Sarahnade. Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I don't really care, it'll be good no matter what. It's Green Day.
Eirik Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I wouldn't mind a more 'back to basics' stripped back feel to a new album. I wouldn't at all mind a faster, more experimental album with the production stripped back a little. A bit balls out y'know?I think the live show discussion would be in another thread. :wink:But yeah, I agree. I'd like hear some more basic stuff, maybe even a song that started with electric guitar, which as a guitarist, I sorta miss on the new album. Granted, EJN and H&H do start with electric guitar, but they have sound clips before them, soooo.
Salmonator. Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I'd like to hear faster songs, but whatever they do it's going to be epic.Oh, and a 5 minute track on Mike's laugh.
Robin105 Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I think it's a little to early to be talking about Green Day's next album. I'm still listening to 21st Century Breakdown like it just came out an hour ago.
Sarahnade. Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Well, I love AI and 21CB, but it would be nice to leave out characters on the next album. I don't know, after using characters for the last two albums, I'd like to see them make an album without them.
poisonoak Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 i wont mind wait a few good long years for them to come back with something totally different
madie Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Well, I love AI and 21CB, but it would be nice to leave out characters on the next album. I don't know, after using characters for the last two albums, I'd like to see them make an album without them.I completely agree. I wanna hear what they are feeling, maybe not so much about politics and stuff.
Chelsea Hotel Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I want more action! More crunch! More raaaaar!I also want Mike to sing more.
Sarahnade. Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I completely agree. I wanna hear what they are feeling, maybe not so much about politics and stuff.Yeah! I know Billie is expressing himself through the characters, but I want a more personal album. AI and 21CB are fantastic, but something different would be nice. A few songs about politics or something is fine, but more personal songs.A cover would be cool too. I don't know what of though.Oh, RADIO GAGA! I also want Mike to sing more. And to write more! More singing and writing from Tre too.
Chelsea Hotel Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 And to write more! More singing and writing from Tre too.Yesssss. They should cover Roadrunner by The Modern Lovers. Om nom nom.
XBlade1X Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I think 21CB already had a "Warning" feel to it... is it just me or does someone else think that too?I've read in interviews after 21CB came out that Billie said "I'd like to make a record in China. I'd also like to see Mike become more of a songwriter. I'd like to strip things down, become more acoustic - see how quiet we can get and still have the drama and power behind it". In another interview a couple of months later he was asked what he wanted to do again and said "I have no idea" but still mentioned the Idea in China.I like his ideas but I really don't want them to become more acoustic. He probably just said that part because he was exausted after finishing recording 21CB and wanted a break. But even if its what they do im sure it wil only be one album like that, and then they will come back next time with something really loud. I think I'd like them to give the characters and stuff a break for a while, but i'd definately love to see characters again one day, just not yet. I'd love a powerful, loud album loaded with lots of fast songs in between the long ones, and I definately would love to hear another 10 minute song But no matter what they do they are still Green Day and I will always love them.

Hellcat Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I would personally love to see the next album go in the direction of more rock.in the vein of bob dylan the who and social distortion covers they did as 21cb itunes tracks.also think hey jude and i cant get no satisfaction live covers.I really enjoyed those covers and it makes me think if i liked them what could the boys come up with in that same style.I'm hoping this comes to fruition when bill was talking about letting mike do a lot more vocals on the next record.hopefully that turns out nice with say maybe 1 or 2 tracks with mike as the lead vocals.and a couple of tracks where bill and mike share vocal duties.and not have it turn into a whole blink 182 two vocalists thing.and didnt they also say the would like to do a raw agressive punk album in china.and if the side project thing keeps going between albums.i would love to see sorta like a 80's punk / hardcore style band. like minor threat, early mats and husker du, black flag etc
