Katarina. Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I love Warning, too bad it's (a bit) underrated. People are missing out on a lot
fatherotti Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 most of my fav's come off Warning... but I think its the most underrated cause of the whole sell out crud...given the time the album was released...Green Day was basically disappearing and people were loosing interest :/ but when they came back with AI it opened the door for so many new fans to discover all their music...including the underrated stuff...Green Day are popular more than they ever have been cause of all these new fans...the generation we see around today...the generation that played AI that summer in 2004 and didnt say "wow this sucks"...............
Nzap Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Dookie: In The EndNimrod: Worry Rock, Jinx, Take Back, and Reject is on the edge.Nor really the same ones I had in mind (Sassafras Roots, Coming Clean from Dookie, and Platypus, Walking Alone, King for a Day and Last Ride In).
Tubbie Head Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 That's so right!!! Warning is really amazing, and most people don't even know it exists, or don't pay too much attention to it!
Mellyboots Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Warning's the first Green Day album I heard. It has a special place in my heart
LetItBeHappy Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Dookie: In The EndNimrod: Worry Rock, Jinx, Take Back, and Reject is on the edge.WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM?! IN THE END ROCKS! THE FAIL IN DOOKIE IS PULLING TEETH(sorry, i just love that song xd)And Nimrod is (as someone said a few posts ago) the step between the inmature and mature Green Day! Reject is a great song. "What's the difference between you and me? i do what i want, you do what you're told". That's a very strong line. And Jinx doesn't deliver its messange in a straighter way 'cause it can't: "I fucked up AGAIN, it's all my fault". And the "nother sentimental argument and bitter love" is so "this guy is actually suffering because of his relation, he actually cares about it".(yes, i love that cd, leave me be... but i concur with you and take back)BTW, WHERE CAN I JOIN THE WARNING FAN CLUB?
fainiel Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I always liked Warning. I wasn't a fan when it came out, but when I went and splurged on the back catalogue it was the one I was most pleasantly surprised about because of the reviews I'd read which were a bit 'meh' about it all. I think, especially now, that we've seen what came after it makes a lot more sense as you can see the Green Day we know today developing. Especially in Misery, the whole storytelling element came out in that song that they've since put into AI and 21CB.
Boston Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Warning is the most important album in Green Day's discography, and it is certainly underrated. It showcases the band at a crossroads - someplace beyond the punks that recorded Dookie and someplace before the men who would record American Idiot. Warning differed from Green Day's previous albums by beginning to look at controversies in the world, where albums like Insomniac and Nimrod were more selfish in their focuses on the personas Billie Joe created to display his immediate internal and external conflicts. The album's message is not the only reason it is underrated; it has some killer songs. A lot of people dislike the folksy turn it takes in the midsection of the album, but its really ballsy, and in my opinion, catchy. However, the band still found a way to balance newer sounds with ye old punk rock (i.e. Minority, a GD show must since the album's release). I'm really glad that Rolling Stone recognized Warning, even if it is about 10 years too late.
