darenmay Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 i'd just be honest, i won't say i'm happy green day isn't nominated for album of the year considering that other less-deserving artists are nominated, too. bcuz actually i am not. of course, i'd like green day to be nominated for that category no matter who are their competitions.but yes, it couldn't be, maybe bcuz 21st CB is less than popular than all those albums nominated.and nowadays isn't really the time of rock music.
Mrs. Nobody Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Well glad some people have sense.. The grammy's this year are pretty much a joke, unfortunatelyanyway, seeing mastodon at #2 made me laugh
Katarina. Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Yay Though I think they should've been in the top 3.
Brian Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 U2's album in my opinion is crap. Green Day really got the short end of the stick when it came to nominations.
GDM Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 Sigh. I'm not even going to bother to mention to Clover that she yet again didn't mention me for finding this on today's GDA page.Whoops... maybe I just did! Sorry guys, no need to reply to this, it's just the 3rd time and I'm in a sucky mood.Move along, nothing to see here...
Clayish Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 First, On the Horizon blew....2nd, Green Day should have been nominated for Album of The Year. Freaking embarrising.3rd, Green Day should be 1st on this list. Its sad to see a 70 minute, 18 track epic not be nominated, but the Black Eyed Peas get nominated for everything...
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Yay And I'm not gonna comment on the list since I'm too lazy to even take a look at it.
Harinezumi Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Its sad to see a 70 minute, 18 track epic not be nominated, but the Black Eyed Peas get nominated for everything...Yeah, it's kinda hard to take the Grammys seriously anymore.

Punx89 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 that's good Rolling Stone!21st Century Breakdown deserves more!!!!
Tiffx Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 The Black Eyed Peas are up for Album of the Year? Their music is not creative, and the band members lack talent substantially. I agree that Lady Gaga deserves the nod, as does Beyonce because they are both talented and original to some degree. Taylor Swift has been massivly successful, and by Grammy standards, that means she should have the nod, but she is overall lackluster and doesn't deserve all of the attention she's been getting lately. I haven't heard much from DMB this year, and that's all I'm going to say about them deserving the nod. To have no real rock albums up for grabs is a problem. Rock is at the root of most popular music today in that it has influenced many artists. Also, rock albums tend to be more creative and musically expansive than pop albums. I too am irked that the list is so inclusive. In regards to 21CB, I knew they wouldn't be getting a nod for Album of the Year. The only reason they got one in 2004 was because American Idiot was pop culture phenomenon as well as a great album. 21CB is not nearly as popular, and in my opinon, not as good as American Idiot. I think that its saving grace in this year's Grammys is that the band behind it is Green Day.I agree with you. So pissed off at the album of the year nominations. It just goes to show how rock music in general has sort of slipped out of the mainstream since American Idiots success while pop/dance/rnb take over. It's a shame an album like 21CB has been overlooked. It's an album with substance, don't think the same can be said for the other nominations.

What kind of message is that sending to the next generation of musicians? I think this: "Spit out a few rap words, hide them behind studio wizardry so nobody actually hears how awful you really sound, show some skin, make your millions, and then go away."
Guest Hayley Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 To be honest I don't consider 21CB such a good album I believe that other GD albums are way better but we still deserve that.
Greenday_Aussie Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Now I understand the Grammy hate on the Simpsons.
1000SlappyHours Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Dear Science should be higher. Great Album. Personally, i think 21CB fits Album of the Year perfectly, Green Day may mess around with the song structures sometimes, but they keep their pop hooks so the songs are easily likeable. In a way Animal Collective made their first "pop" album but i guess their music is still too experimental for a grammy nomination.
E!!i Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 To be honest I don't consider 21CB such a good album I believe that other GD albums are way better but we still deserve that.yes, I think that american idiot is better
Seedless_Reject Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 In my opinion 21st Century Breakdown is in top 3 overlooked albums by Grammys, it's a great album and deserves the place in the album of the year category. But that's just my opinion.this
Guest Hayley Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 yes, I think that american idiot is betterAgreed.
Guest Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Yeah, it's kinda hard to take the Grammys seriously anymore. :down:THIS
GreenDaymaniac2000 Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I'm happy rolling stone has seen that 21st CB was overlooked but I think it should be a lot higher on that list. I don't understand how u2s album is at the top of the list. I think what they mean is that they can't believe u2 were overlooked rather than their album was overlooked. I am a u2 fan and I own and like no line on the horizon but it's not their best work and maybe not even Grammy worthyagreed it was a huge disapointment and i too am a u2 fan
