The GDC wallpaper Calender 2010

well, i think we should decide how big we want to make them and if we have to put the dates directly on wallpaper or not or whatever. I guess we should even post the pics we want to use on our wallpaper so we don't have 4 vma months or 7 Billie months, if you know what I'm talking about.

I agree. And I think that we should vary live pictures, photoshoots, and awards shows etc. too. Just so it's not all the same.

Well they don't need to be the center, but there are plenty of great pictures in this thread to choose from. With 12 months and only 3 guys really in Green Day, there's plenty of room for just a couple pics of the other guys. I'm not asking for a whole calendar of the Jasons (though that's an amazing idea in itself ), just a picture here or there since we have so many good ones.

Edit: I just realized what you meant by center of the wallpaper. But my reply to that is still to visit the Jasons picture thread, there's pics of just them in there. Lots and lots of them!

Lanna, this is why I love you. Yes, I fully support the proposal that we NEED some Jason luv in there. Sorry, I can't do anything being artistically challenged and all.

Fantastic idea. Cant wait for thre finnished product. Sadly.... i can only take pictures... not edit them very well. Photoshop and me dont get along. If there is no one else, ill give it a go so message if you need me ^_^

You can take it into paint or another program once you get it and put things down under the dates, then re-save it and voila! personalized

It depends on how you want it made. My mom makes calendars by hand every year for her family. "By hand" I mean she makes the calendar in Word and then prints it and puts it together by hand, usually with those black binding combs (ex) and mails it out to everyone in her extended family. (Word calendars are low quality, FYI) But you can also try to find a printing company who can make it cheap so it's a standard calendar. Or you can design it on Tabloid paper and figure out the proper printer settings (which will need double sided printing) and staple things yourself and then mail them out.

I see lots of people mentioning graphic making, but I see anyone mentioning laying out the calendar itself. There is a difference. Graphics are only 1 part. Layout is different. There are multiple parts to making a calendar. I've made part of one before. In Digital Publishing (a class at my university) students have to design and mock up a calendar or part of a calendar in some form. You need more than graphics. You have to think about the calendar layout itself along with the graphics. It'd be easier to figure out how you want the layout and then make sure all the graphics are designed somewhat similar so that everything flows. They can all be different style, but you want the calendar days (the chart) to be somewhat continuous throughout the whole thing. This is hard to explain. I just do things when I design. I don't normally explain much.

Yeah, it'd be hard to pick who'll get mentioned and who won't, plus it would get sooooo crowded (right word?) with birthdays unless you do some major censorship in who will and who will not be put on (which would be pretty mean for the people who are kinda regular but aren't mentioned )

I'd quite like a go please! I've been thinking of making one for myself anyway because I have no space to hang an actual physical calendar, so this is a great idea! I have some icons and wallpapers on Livejournal here, here and uh here.

Thanks for all of that, Blu. I was wondering about those things, and how it's going to work. I've never made a calendar before, so I have no clue. :/

Most people haven't designed a calendar. To make a good one is a tricky thing. To make a full one is really hard, which is why I opted for partial when I made one. I didn't have time or energy to complete a whole one. But here's the basics for designing:

> Create background graphics in Photoshop or similar program and save in HIGH quality. They need to be LARGE images. Use a higher resolution and make them on a big canvas. Things can be scaled down, but they cannot be scaled up with the quality kept. Enlarging an image is not a good idea, ever. You can enlarge vectors, but not pictures. Saving in PNG is better than JPG because it preserves colors better.

> You want to create it, the full project, in something like Adobe InDesign or a similar program. Microsoft Publisher has a calendar setting, through I don't know how it works or if it'll work right for this. Microsoft Word would technically work, I think. But if we're making physical calendars, the chart of the days needs to be the same on every month.
