Lyz Z Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I don't know if this is a reference or a weird place to hear Green Day, but... How many people have been sitting in the audience, waiting for a comedian to come on stage, music coming through the speakers while we waited...all the songs being by a country band, all covers of punk rock songs....and then heard... "Dear mother can you hear me whining? It's been 3 whole weeks..." Yes, a country-genre cover of Welcome to Paradise. As well as one of Basket Case later.
heartscollide Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I was reading Dead and Gone and someone said "Lay down your arms!" and in the same book someone said "If memory serves" (Jill's username on here is ifmemoryserves)
ChelseaWhatsername Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 In sex ed today, our teacher said "For lack of a better word".

Once when I was in that same situation while waiting for one of my favorite stand up comedians, two Green Day songs were played before and after the show! But the originals! Hold On and Walking Alone! Me and my boyfriend were like
Micky Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 soooo there is this super weird theater prof at my school named Richard Finklestien. I call him I was driving back home and I saw a car with 'Fashion Victim' on the back

Rosie May Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I say some guy withn a t-shirt that said "Here we go again" on the back which made me think of Pasalacqua, and it remined me of the Rhapsody ad with all the green day references in it.
saraHsunshine Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I was driving back home and I saw a car with 'Fashion Victim' on the back that is something I would put on my car! In history my prof classified a country as a "basket case" I just stared at the powerpoin in amazement. It make my day!
ANJI Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 I was watching Waterloo Road and one of the teachers said "Ruby the peacemaker"

Micky Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 that is something I would put on my car! oh yes I was watching Waterloo Road and one of the teachers said "Ruby the peacemaker" that's a double reference
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 somehow the year 2020 keeps popping up everywhere. oh and this is a very lame reference, but yesterday I was looking at the clock and it was 10:28 or some random time like that, and I was like "oooh it's almost 10:39". and the next time I looked at the clock it was 10:51. yeah, that was really lame, but it still sorta counts as it did make me think of Green Day?
Samma.Wamma Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 These aren't much of references, but here I go... One time, I was with my friends and we were playing Sims 2 We were trying to think of town names so I suggested Passalacqua, Haushinka, and Wilhelm Fink. We then proceeded to name it Passalacqua and make two characters named Wilhelm and Cocan Passalacquafinkerpus. Every time we play i think of Green Day and my friends frequently say "passalacqua" and "wilhelm" in context. It's pretty funny, since they have no idea. And for a science project, my friends had to make a diagram of the human skeleton and they got to dress it up and name it and shit, so one was named Wilhelm Passalacquafinkerpus and one Wilhelm Fink (which is hung up in the school hallway) So every time I walk by that poster I wonder if any Green Day fans recognize it Another time, I walked by the school IMC and noticed there were a bunch of biographies on display, and I noticed a Green Day book (Green Day: Keeping their Edge) which I had read just a few months previous. Also, I went to the school drama tryouts and one girl sang "Time of Your Life." I started lip synching along with her. And every time I see the word "she" I start singing the song in my head AND LASTLY, I was at my school bus stop and this kid was telling us about some kid that was always stealing and stuff and that he couldn't think of the word to call him, so I immediately said "Kleptomaniac..?" And in my head I was like haha.. I learned that from Green Day's "Shoplifter" Oh yeah, and every time my History teacher says the word "trust," I mention that "Trust is a dirty word that comes from such a liar, but respect is something I will earn if you have faith..." EDIT: I also want to buy a bumper sticker that says "WARNING: Live without warning."
Robin105 Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 There's an article in the newspaper today about the musical

In music we had to make a song composition in groups and when we finished we kinda went 'so... what do we name it?'. I said Platypus and she was all 'YES! I like it!' except she ended up finding out through another green day fan and also in the store, they had one of those cheesy beach theme plaques for sale and it said 'welcome to paradise'.
Agija Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 My classmate had a multiple-choice test in English and one of the answers was Green Day. I wish I had had that test.
