I'm highly doubtful they'll win a grammy for album of the year. In fact, I'm doubtful they'll win any grammys. Which is a shame, because the grammys is the only award ceremony I take even remotely seriously. Green Day only has won grammys when they were huge. And I mean HUGE huge. Taking over the world HUGE. You couldn't take a piss without somebody humming Basket Case or Boulevard of Broken Dreams huge. Which so far, has only happened twice with Dookie and American Idiot. 21st Century Breakdown wasn't that huge mainstream wise. It didn't exactly flop, but I think many in the industry were dissapointed that it didn't meet up to expectations sales wise. And according to that article on the official website; Kings of Leon are likely to be nominated. They were HUGE in the mainstream last year with those two hit wonders. So that will hurt their chances a bit.

But for the record, they deserve to AT THE VERY LEAST be nominated. And I hope I'm wrong and they win. Really, American Idiot was childs play compared to 21st Century Breakdown, and it's a shame that there's not too many people who realize that. I'm just trying to be a little more realistic and not be blinded by the fact that I'm a Green Day fan.

And I'm aware that this is the wrong thread to mention this, but since I'm already here; it's an absolute shit stain that East Jesus Nowhere didn't really take off as a single. The promotion for that single was God awful. The lack of a REAL music video was a dumb move, and since that is the technical current single, it's a real shame that they didn't perform that at the AMAS. Could've helped even a little bit, especially since they won the award they were nominated for.

Well, probably 21CB is not as popular as AI was but is it that bad? the fact that Breakdown didn't sell a few millions doesn't affect the QUALITY of the music. I think that its quality met the expectations. Still the album did sell a couple of millions,didn't it? and some songs became really big hits! isn't it enough for a Grammy? :wink:

As for East Jesus Nowhere, i heard that it was released as a single, or am I mistaken? and yes, they should have made a video! the song is absolutely great!!!

Kanye West, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and (barfff) taylor swift will be nominated. I'm definitely biased and i think Green Day have had the most grammy award-worthy album of the year, but i don't know if i can see it happening this time around.

The Grammy's will be all about MJ. Just like in '04 when it was, deservedly, all about Ray Charles.

and U2 will win something just for being U2, even though their new album is complete garbage.

Gaga is not eligible for Best New Artist (Just Dance was nominated last year) and I am Sasha Fierce got very mixed reviews as an album overall. Single Ladies will probably take ROTY, but 21 Guns is a great song and is very Grammy friendly
