HoneyDo666 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I really hope they get nominated for Album Of The Year. Wait, wasn't something posted (ages ago) that it was highly possible that they would... I remember seeing something. It was in the LA Times. I think that's a pretty good source ^Yeah. I want them to win a bunch. A bindle, hah.A bevy, a bushel...haha
boosho Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I think they have a really good shot at being nominated and winning:- Album of the year- Best Rock Song- Best Rock Album- Best Rock PerformanceThe Maybe/hoping categories would be:- Best Album Cover- Best Short form Music Video- Record of the Year.
HoneyDo666 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 T. Swifty hasn't won any Grammy's, which gives us hope that she won't win Album of the Year.Imagine what this will do for record sales if they lead the nominations... And they better perform, the Grammy's suck without them!
Teenage Kicks! Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Ya know, after they got the number one grammy moment in history of the grammysAnything is possible.
Heather! Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 From Green Day's twitter:GRAMMY NOMINATION PREVIEW http://url4.eu/pTK3
alaniluau Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I definitely think they have a great shot at album of the year, record of the year, and all the rock categories. The grammys are the only awards that I care about to some extent, so I'd love to see the boys perform and take home a few well deserved awards.
Heather! Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I was just thinking, who would be their competition in the rock categories? Maybe I'm musically retarded but no one comes to mind.
newsflash777 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 You have my complete support. I'll keep that in mind
gabbag Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I was just thinking, who would be their competition in the rock categories? Maybe I'm musically retarded but no one comes to mind. Seriously though, are there really many good mainstream rock bands around now besides Green Day?
minorty13 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I KNOW. I love it. Grammys are usually the only music awards that I feel really count. For some reason when people are like "so-and-so won a VMA" I'm like, who cares?I must say your avatar is AMAZING
Allie90 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Seriously though, are there really many good mainstream rock bands around now besides Green Day? Hmmmmmmm..... not really. their level is too high for anybody to reach. they've been playing for 21 years, so you can't think of any younger band to be compared with them.

I must say your avatar is AMAZING MARKELLE
Heather! Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I must say your avatar is AMAZING Ohhhh thank you :wink:Ugh, why would Paramore EVER be up for a grammy? I would die.KOL are apparantly all that this year though. They annoy me.
Tiffx Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I really hope Taylor Swift doesn't win everything. I fail to see why her music is so special. Pretty mediocre IMO.
newsflash777 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Ohhhh thank you :wink:Ugh, why would Paramore EVER be up for a grammy? I would die. They annoy me.I don't know. Probably for Decode though, just due to good ol' popularity.
Allie90 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 God I hope Paramore isnt against them, or if they are they lose and cry againLOL!!!!!!!!! I can hardly stop laughing!!!I'll definitely sympathize with that frontwoman of theirs
Heather! Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I don't know. Probably for Decode though, just due to good ol' popularity.Eh.... maybe. I'd just hope that the Grammys would be more based on the actual talent of the musicians rather than popularity, y'know?
newsflash777 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Eh.... maybe. I'd just hope that the Grammys would be more based on the actual talent of the musicians rather than popularity, y'know?Gah, I know. Who determines Grammy's anyway?
Allie90 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Eh.... maybe. I'd just hope that the Grammys would be more based on the actual talent of the musicians rather than popularity, y'know? You're sooo right! talent that's what all the awards SHOULD be about! but strange as it may seem such ordinary chics as Swift winning!
Rob Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I'm highly doubtful they'll win a grammy for album of the year. In fact, I'm doubtful they'll win any grammys. Which is a shame, because the grammys is the only award ceremony I take even remotely seriously. Green Day only has won grammys when they were huge. And I mean HUGE huge. Taking over the world HUGE. You couldn't take a piss without somebody humming Basket Case or Boulevard of Broken Dreams huge. Which so far, has only happened twice with Dookie and American Idiot. 21st Century Breakdown wasn't that huge mainstream wise. It didn't exactly flop, but I think many in the industry were dissapointed that it didn't meet up to expectations sales wise. And according to that article on the official website; Kings of Leon are likely to be nominated. They were HUGE in the mainstream last year with those two hit wonders. So that will hurt their chances a bit.But for the record, they deserve to AT THE VERY LEAST be nominated. And I hope I'm wrong and they win. Really, American Idiot was childs play compared to 21st Century Breakdown, and it's a shame that there's not too many people who realize that. I'm just trying to be a little more realistic and not be blinded by the fact that I'm a Green Day fan.And I'm aware that this is the wrong thread to mention this, but since I'm already here; it's an absolute shit stain that East Jesus Nowhere didn't really take off as a single. The promotion for that single was God awful. The lack of a REAL music video was a dumb move, and since that is the technical current single, it's a real shame that they didn't perform that at the AMAS. Could've helped even a little bit, especially since they won the award they were nominated for.
HoneyDo666 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 KOL aren't eligible for Best Rock Album. Their album came out before the beginning of the period for Grammy consideration. It will be Green Day against U2.
