1000SlappyHours Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 well I guess it does kinda make sense that its #60, when it comes to certain contests and magazines the higher rankings are the artists who are around there...which means a lot of Radiohead, Muse, etc. etc.I still wish it could have gotten a higher number Well they don't even have Origin of Symmetry there for Muse, and yet they put Blackholes and Revelations (which i also love, but it's definitely their most mainstream record). For Radiohead, Kid A should've been higher than In Rainbows IMO.
Juan Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 it always annoyed me when it says 'warning bombed with the fans...'. no it didn't, it bombed with the critics.didn't either. Christgau gave A- and Steven Erlewine from allmusic called it (back then) "best damn album they've ever made" Bombed with the mainstream, which is fine by me.
Mar Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Not a surprise. NME has always been squeamish with Green Day :down: They like to promote boring album that no one's going to listen, I don't care what NME says about Green Day anymore.EDIT: and also NME justifications are always contradictory.I like NME to an extent, but I completely agree with you, especially in regards to the band.Oh, wow. Okay. I feel stupid now. :lol: I love you, this made me laugh too hard, sorry to be laughing at your mistake!Ideally it would have been higher on the list, but honestly, this isn't that bad, all things considered!
greendaygal89 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 number 60 somthing isnt right there!!
matteo263 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 60?????????????????????????????Should be at least 11?bdw I never heard of any of the top 3(where is 21CB and Warning{Mainly 21 CB}
Helly 77 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 they are the best... and AI is the best album ever...GD don't need stupid magazines or TVs to tell them they are great!!!it's enough that i'm a green day fan!! right!?
Kate Austen Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 This is a top 10 of the decade easily. I don't use that lightly either. While Green Day is my personal favorite band, in the grand scheme of things - I wouldn't put most their music in top of lists. But American Idiot is something special.It actually deserve to be in top 10.
matteo263 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 PURE PRoof that NME are IDIOOOOTTTTSSSSIn 2006 they issued this:http://www.timepieces.nl/Top100%27s/2006NME.htmlAmerican idiot was the 32nd best album of all time!!!!Making them the 6th best Album of the 2000's until then.....so in NME are saying that since 2006 the world came up with 54 best of all time albums.WALKING CONTRADICTION!
Agija Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 They deserved to be on the top 10 list. NME just doesn't like Green Day, AI is definitely better than those other 59 albums.
Kate Austen Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Well...no one takes them seriously anyways. Have you seen their list of best live acts of all time!? It's kind of hilarious how many bands did not deserve to be on that top 10. Especially when you are considering all the groups ever created in the past 100 years.
RobyRoom Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 PURE PRoof that NME are IDIOOOOTTTTSSSSIn 2006 they issued this:http://www.timepieces.nl/Top100%27s/2006NME.htmlAmerican idiot was the 32nd best album of all time!!!!Making them the 6th best Album of the 2000's until then.....so in NME are saying that since 2006 the world came up with 54 best of all time albums.WALKING CONTRADICTION!Thank you, but that classification, if i get it right, was made by fans not by the NME editors But I agree on the fact that NME is to a certain extent contradictory.

Nikki_Nimrod Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Wow, AI deserves to be waaay higher!I agree 21st Century Breakdown should be on there too, it's so brilliant.Even the description of American Idiot, although it's positive as a whole, still comes across as very negative to me.NME are crazy
Alan86 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 American Idiot shoud be in the top 3 at least. U2 had one of there most succsful decades since they formed with 3 Number 1 albums of which "all that you cant leave behind" and "how to dismantle an atomic bomb" were very sucessfull records. Not one of them even made the top 100. This chart is a bit stupid.
Mar Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 they are the best... and AI is the best album ever...GD don't need stupid magazines or TVs to tell them they are great!!!it's enough that i'm a green day fan!! right!?I am laughing so hard at your av right now, Billie's eyes
Hermione Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 NME is number 1 on my list of shitty music magazines.

Tho i will admit i love "All that you can't leave behind". I don't think American Idiot deserves to be in the top 10, but It's Blitz didn't really deserve to be tht high. Kid A should've been higher than In Rainbows and Animal Collective should've been on tht list, even if they are overrated.
