saraHsunshine Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Ok this is not so much a issue with lyrics but more with the way I think haha.I think I heard this line wrong the first time I listened to Last of the American Girls "she's got her little book of conspiracies right in her hand" It drives me insane because for some reason I always think"she's got her little book of conspracies in her right hand" It's just a bunch of niggers throwing gas into the hysteriaThis is a very Bob Dylan thing. Sorry but I love Bob Dylan. This makes a lot of people uncomfortable for a lot of reasons but I think that since this is a comment on how wrong racism is, it is a ok in my book.
♥Christian and Gloria♥ Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I like Last Night on Earth and all. But the lyrics are way too simple like 'If you dare to second guess you can rest' that is just way to simple. the rhyme to annoying too. But it's a sweet song.

It doesn't bug me, but my mind will always switch up the two.
saraHsunshine Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 ^ Haaaha ok well I feel better to know that I am not the only one...my sister looked at me and was like "seriously?! you're crazy to even think of that."
Pharmakon Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I like Last Night on Earth and all. But the lyrics are way too simple like 'If you dare to second guess you can rest' that is just way to simple. the rhyme to annoying too. But it's a sweet song. To me, sometimes the simplest lyrics and songs can be the most beautiful/moving ones. And I haven't found a Green Day lyric that I dislike yet I don't think. But I absolutely can't stand the Foxies' lyric "Marie, I'm crucified. Drink my blood coming from my eyes" I have a big eye phobia thing so that line to me is just disgusting and gives me the willies!
novacaine_kid Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 "Like a dog thats been sodomized" is a bit far out. But it gets overlooked because of how great the song is as a whole.
Isabel Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 The line "The clock is laughing in my face" from Brain Stew reminds me of that painting of droopy melting clocks... I don't like that painting, it's scary. You mean The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali? Yeah me too, I absolutely hate surrealism.
gusgd Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 "Red eye, code blue I'd like to strangle you And watch your eyes bulge right out of your skull When you go down Head first into the ground I'll stand above you just to piss on your grave " I just don't like it. It creeps my out.
saraHsunshine Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 "Like a dog thats been sodomized" is a bit far out. I am not a huge fan of surealism BUT Dali has a fuckin' sweet rendition of The Last Supper - cheak it out...it took me a few looks before I realized Jesus is pointing his hand at his head like a gun for the disciples to see.
Whatsername1533 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I guess I've never really though about it before. the only one that i can think of off the top of my head is in american eulogy when billie says the "n word" I really don't mind it, it just makes me uncomfortable for some reason.
The Daughter of Rage and Love Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 "...like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone" I have never really liked that line.
Mar Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 "...like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone" I have never really liked that line. Oh, I don't either, I forgot about that one. On one hand, it makes sense, and the on the other, it's kind of far-fetched.
Mrs. Nobody Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Has to be said, after reading all these lyrics that have been analyzed, whoever says they've got simple/shit lyrics deserves to burn in hell With all due respect of course
The Disappearing Boy Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 "...like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone" I have never really liked that line. yeah, thats not wonderful. 'from a storm' sounds so much better.
Tiffx Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Has to be said, after reading all these lyrics that have been analyzed, whoever says they've got simple/shit lyrics deserves to burn in hell With all due respect of course Amen. Their lyrics are far from simple and actually make people think. Unless you're lazy and can't appreciate good music.
Princess Consuela Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 yeah, thats not wonderful. 'from a storm' sounds so much better. Agree. I always want to sing 'storm' instead of 'stone' Has to be said, after reading all these lyrics that have been analyzed, whoever says they've got simple/shit lyrics deserves to burn in hell With all due respect of course Shit lyrics, hell no. Simple, depends what song.
Mrs. Nobody Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Agree. I always want to sing 'storm' instead of 'stone' Shit lyrics, hell no. Simple, depends what song. And simple doesn't always mean bad either.
Mar Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 yeah, thats not wonderful. 'from a storm' sounds so much better. Agree. I always want to sing 'storm' instead of 'stone' I always thought I was the only one. And simple doesn't always mean bad either. Very true. Poprocks and Coke is a good example IMO.
saraHsunshine Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I always thought I was the only one. Very true. Poprocks and Coke is a good example IMO.I am glad you said this, I was just about to be like..."uh...Poprocks & Coke anyone?!"---about the 21 Guns line with "stone" in it, for some reason I always picture someone being stoned there...like not high but ya know, old school death penalty with people throwning rocks....which I must admit, is just one of the weird places my mind takes me...EDIT: AH! It double posted! I had to fix it!
HoneyDo666 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 yeah, thats not wonderful. 'from a storm' sounds so much better. But "from a stone" makes sense. He's looking for forgiveness in vain from something that won't forgive him.
Princess Consuela Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 And simple doesn't always mean bad either.Of course not! I think it's much more difficult to make simple lyrics beautiful or meaningful than to write something that is hardly understandable and seemingly more 'deep'. Actually it can refer to many other things, not just lyrics.

I think it's much more difficult to make simple lyrics beautiful or meaningful than to write something that is hardly understandable and seemingly more 'deep'. XxGracespxX Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 But "from a stone" makes sense. He's looking for forgiveness in vain from something that won't forgive him. That's exactly the same I was gonna say... And come on guys... that line it's beautiful, I cried when I listened itSorry for my bad english jaja
saraHsunshine Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 But "from a stone" makes sense. He's looking for forgiveness in vain from something that won't forgive him.TADA! You get a gold star sticker!!!
shredz Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 "...like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone"I have never really liked that line.I didn't like it when I realised Billie said 'stone' instead of 'star' that I first thought it was, but I'm over that now and I really like it.Hmmm, lemme think... What don't I like?Probably 'whisper "Are you dying?" in my ear' from Rotting because I think of it as 'whisper "are you dying in my ear?"' and I don't like the thought of someone dying in someone's ear
