LilPunky Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I dunno, but I've always liked Christian's Inferno
St. Banana Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Ok I know we've already been over christians inferno. But i dont like it either, it would be my least favourite on the album.especially lines like: Seasons in a ruin and this bitter pill is chased with bloodThere's fire in my veins and it's pouring out like a floodandToxin your reservoirAnd then return man to ape
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I always assumed that "I could really care less" was right, and in the meaning of that he does care to a certain extent (?).But I don't really know if that makes sense at all, because after that you get the "I don't care" part But well, I've never really figured out what he'd care/not care about anyway...... argh I hate having English not as native language, I never get all the cool stuff in Billie's lyrics xD
Princess Consuela Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 argh I hate having English not as native language, I never get all the cool stuff in Billie's lyrics xDI know, right? Even if I do translate words or expressions I don't know, it's just impossible to get everything in 100%. I feel I'm missing something, as I will never understand Billie's lyrics like native English speakers. And I'm not talking about the general meaning, it's just those double meanings, puns, etc. I like finding out new things in songs I know so well, though
greendaytone Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Interesting topic...I would say 'I got a really bad disease' sounds a bit strange. I wouldn't say i don't like it though.Nothing else springs to mind right now.
Kaddi. Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I don't have a least favourite GD lyric. I just see 1,000 Hours as being a really sweet song that Billie wrote when he was what, 15 or 16? But yeah, I'd have to say the "We're lost like Refugees" bit in Before the Lobotomy is one of the most annoying moments in a Green Day song.I love the part with the refugees Uhm yeah, 1000 hours is cheesy... but so is last nigh on earth, I actually think it's even more cheesy than 1000 hours.
Maddy. Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I don't like Christian's Inferno. :\But stop hating on Restless Heart Syndrome! gosh, that song is brilliantI think just Christian's Inferno for me
The Disappearing Boy Posted November 15, 2009 Author Posted November 15, 2009 I know, right? Even if I do translate words or expressions I don't know, it's just impossible to get everything in 100%. I feel I'm missing something, as I will never understand Billie's lyrics like native English speakers. And I'm not talking about the general meaning, it's just those double meanings, puns, etc. I like finding out new things in songs I know so well, though don't worry, i never understand billie joe's lyrics either!!
Nele Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 The copy editor in me frowns upon "And I could really care less" in "City of the Damned", because it's supposed to be "couldn't care less"; the lyric implies that he cares somewhat, because there is the possibility of him caring less.Well, we just had in english class that you can say "i couldn't care less" and "i could care less" and it means exaclty the same, just depends where you live, it's like an accent.
The Disappearing Boy Posted November 15, 2009 Author Posted November 15, 2009 i hate the backing lyrics behind the 'lost like refugees' line.
RobyRoom Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 don't worry, i never understand billie joe's lyrics either!!So if I ask you what "tragic al'a madness and concrete" means you can't answer?I like this line but I'm pretty usure on the meaning
The Disappearing Boy Posted November 15, 2009 Author Posted November 15, 2009 So if I ask you what "tragic al'a madness and concrete" means you can't answer?I like this line but I'm pretty usure on the meaning i mean i understand the words, but they don't make sense together. not to me anyway.
Maddy. Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I don't like "lost like refugees" much either, but it's still pretty epic when you see/hear it live.
RobyRoom Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 i mean i understand the words, but they don't make sense together. not to me anyway.
Katarina. Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I never really thought about lines from a Green Day song I DON'T like. I don't think I have any, I pay more attention to the ones I DO like
Juliette Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I don't like the part where Billie is all like "I'm my own worst enemy" in Restless Heart Syndrome, dunno why, I just don't like that line, especially if he sings them like 3236583 times in a row. Besides that I can't really think of anything, I like to think about the lyrics I like, not about the ones I dislike. I love that bit. Cause it's like linking the 2 songs and that. From Know Your Enemy, then to saying that you ARE your enemy. Idk.I don't really like the shouty bit in Holiday, that's all that comes to mind just now.
safra Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Oh I love the shouty bit in holiday!I hate the sodomy bit in EJNI don't like Resless Heart Syndrome at allI do like Christians InfernoAgree, not keen on the refugees bitI LOVE GREEN DAY
Princess Consuela Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 don't worry, i never understand billie joe's lyrics either!!Haha ok, that makes me feel a bit better
Harriet Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Why does everyone dislike the lyrics to Christian's Inferno? I always thought they were brilliant. I can't really think of any off the top of my head at the moment.
Tiffx Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Uhm yeah, 1000 hours is cheesy... but so is last nigh on earth, I actually think it's even more cheesy than 1000 hours.Agreed. I hate to say it but I think 1000 hours owns Last Night On Earth. I just like it better.
Welshy Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Most of the lyrics from the Sweet Children EP (besides My Generation of course). It's not that I don't like them but they're just a little strange...
BraedonHorbacio Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 "1000 hours" as a whole - ridiculously sappy, never fails to make me cringe.I have nothing against disgusting lyrics, they serve a purpose. And what is so bad about "I got a really bad disease"? I don't get it...Yeah I don't like the 1000 hours lyrics either.
punkfunkdisco Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 All the lyrics from LOTAG.I had to look up CDs to figure out that acronym. Fail. Good job I started with 21CB I really dislike "like a dog that's been sodomised." There's no need for that. And also the "lost like refugees" line because I don't think you can compare anything to the experience of a refugee.
rinu Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I don't have any atm.And I never think about that.
Freeny Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 "I've got a really bad disease""I drank the water from a hurricane" - wtf? XDProbably all of 1000 Hours... It's so corny XD"I text a postcard sent to you, did it go through?" - What? Besides, I don't like most of the lyrics to Last night on earth..Can't come up with anything else right now...Btw, what's up with all the Christians Inferno-bashing? That song and it's lyrics is awesome!
