The Network

It would be cool if Green Day started being The Network again and playing club shows. :)

I don't think they've ruled it out, the fact that they've left the Network logo on Billie's head stock (see YouTube vid from Premier Guitar, with Green Days techs), makes me ever hopeful !!!

Here's a plot twist, what if Green Day was telling the truth and really wasn't The Network?

But they are, and Billie has credit for writing all the songs on his ASCAP, and mike admitted in a recent interview, and the Network 7"s come in the 7" box set

As far as I can remember, some years ago John Roecker played an unreleased Network's song on a radio station.

Yeah, the intro sounds like it was on "Disease is Punishment" (either intro or interlude) - but it wasn't created by The Network, it's by John Roecker.

Really??? Well I feel now that's good because that songis a kind of mix of samplers instead of a Network song.

Sometimes I think that's possible but I know it's not. It just scares me that I could think I'm listening to Green Day but I'm not :P

Thanks for this, just what I was looking for.

Do we actually know that? I've always suspected it was just some music John made for the DVD despite the fact that he said it was an "unreleased Network song" (when someone asked who did the vocals he said The Snoo and I don't believe that, and it seems unlikely that he'd be allowed to put it out if it was by them). But how do we know for certain John made it? It could possibly be some music the band made in the studio couldn't it?

That song is absolute SHIT lol

It's all a theory by me.

I have to correct myself - neither the song or the intro are on "Disease Is Punishment" - it just sounded so familiar.

BUT the song has too many distorted things, the vocals, no real instruments - doesn't sound like the real "The Network"

Ahh, I was wondering there was something I'd missed that confirms it. But I agree with your theory anyway, seems most likely.

Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion man.

to me, it sounds like an early demo of a song. It's easy to imagine Billie (or even Mike or Tre) singing over these beeps and boops, and it sounding a lot better. Maybe put some guitar over it and you've got yourself a The Network song.

Here's my over-elaboate therory about Green Day and The Network (inhales)...

After the release of Warning/Shenanegins, Billie becomes overwhelmingly stressed about having to make a new album and falls into depression which causes him to drink heavily (because this is pre-iHeartRadio).

In Billie's depression and excessive drinking his mind statrs to give way and Fink begins to emerge during Billie's drunken stuppers, while in the state of mind as Fink he manipulates/black-mails Mike, Tré and the others to join him in making Money Money 2020 which latter on is decived as being the Cigarettes & Valentines that had been 'stolen'.

As of now it is uncertain if Fink is still a part of Billie or not since then.

To help back this up; in the Rolling Stones interview Billie gave after the iHeartRadio incident, they asked how he behaved after drinking too much. Billie stated that he would 'black-out' and would have no recollection of the events that took place after being inebriated. So with this in mind, my theory is that during these 'black-outs' Fink became the one in control.

tldr; Fink is a split-personality of Billie's!
