Trina Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I adore this song. The title, "Paper Lanterns" is just sooooo beautiful to me. They're so fragile and so is love. Also, I totally love Paper Lanterns and while i was growing up - my lampshade was a pink paper lantern. Cheap and cheerful! I love live performances of this song. They play it so fantastically well. The lyrics are just amazing and I always find it so sweet that a young guy could write stuff like that. The love side of this song used to have alot of meaning to me but now I listen to it in a different way. Sometimes not about people at all or sometimes about lost friendships.I feel like it's just really interestingly written. I'm not quite sure what it is about it..I'd put in my favorite lyrics but it would be pretty much the whole song!I love when billie Joe sings "mind" all like "mwwwaaiinnd"I just really adore this song.

Trina, I've always thought Billie's younger songs were impressive for their insight - or maybe just his ability to express things that other people can only feel. I also often have trouble believing that a male of the species can write such great relationship songs. But I'm glad he does .
Abbey. Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 "So when are all my troubles gonna end?I'm understanding now that We are only friendsTo this day I'm asking whyI still think about you"When I hear this song and when I sing this song I think about you Green Day
Isabel Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I love this song so much. 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is my bible. It's my all time favourite Green Day album and this song is just one of many which speaks to me in ways I can't even describe. It just makes so much sense to me and even though it doesn't value the same ideas it did to me 4 years ago, I still identify with it so well."I do not mind if all I am is just a friend to youBut all I want to know right now is if you think about me too..."Wow....just, inexplicably wonderful I absolutely love the acoustic version of this song too.
Maddy. Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 This song is now even more epic for me. It has achieved something for me. He finally wants to 'date' me xD
marta_gs Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 "So when are all my troubles gonna end?I'm understanding now that We are only friendsTo this day I'm asking whyI still think about you" this is why this song means so much for me...

Vespertine Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I really love this song <3I was just listening to it.
Hermione Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I always enjoyed this song but it was getting access to the internet and being able to watch live footage of it that made me really fall in love with it. It's probably my favourite live song to watch because they always had so much fun with it. I can remember just searching Paper Lanterns on youtube and watching performance after performance, never getting bored because every one had different silly and imaginative antics going on to amuse me . I think I need to watch some right now.
