thisisAB Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 A bit off topic, but 'Bab's Uvula Who' is probably the most peculiar title of GD song. It's supposed to be an anagram. What do you get if you rearrange the letters?
Princess Consuela Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 It's supposed to be an anagram. What do you get if you rearrange the letters? I didn't know that! So what does it say? I can't figure it out
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 ^ It's on GDA, but I can't find it and it's bugging the crap out of me From what I remember it's 'luv u *something*'...edit: YES YES YES I found it. 'Babs Uvula Who?' is an anagram of 'Who luvs u baba?'.
SpiffyGiffy Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Great song, one of the best oldies It's supposed to be an anagram. Heather! Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Isn't "Bab's Uvula Who?" the name of an old SNL sketch? I thought that's where the title came from.Aww, Paper Lanterns is one of those old songs that gives me the chills because I know EXACTLY what it's like to feel that way... my favorite bit is I do not mind if all I am is just a friend to you, but all I want to know right now is if you think about me too.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Isn't "Bab's Uvula Who?" the name of an old SNL sketch? I thought that's where the title came from.Yeah, that's what I heard too. But that doesn't mean it can't be an anaagram as well
J'net Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Yeah, that's what I heard too. But that doesn't mean it can't be an anaagram as well That's part of the joke. There was a character named Baba Wawa (take off on Barbara Walters). This sketch was about her, and she was in it.
Michael128 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Love this song. I know exactly who it's about.....And what year is the second video from? Looks like he started the ayooooooo's young.

Laura! Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I'm listening to it now for maybe the 4th time, and falling in love with it. I've always liked it but never really listened to it, only when it came up in shuffle on my iPod.
Tiffx Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 LOVE IT. What a classic. Watching videos of this song performed live makes me wish they performed it on this tour. It's one of the best.
valentinesandcigs Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 i was just watching the video of them playing it at woodstock one of the best green day songs ever
boosho Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 This is def the best song on the album. I really love that song. And i think it has the kick ass bass riff.. You appreciate it even more when you watch the woodstock video coz at the end when the mud fight breaks out all you hear is the Mike playing that bass riff over and over again and it just fucking rocks... I wish they would play this live (3 songs i wish they would play in the melbourne shows, paper lanterns, One for the Razorbacks and waiting) sorry for the off topic..
gabbag Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I love this song! It is definitely one of my favorites off of the album and when I was first listening to that album, this song immediately stuck out for me, and I have loved it ever since.

J'net Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 im sorry to spam but its CLASSIC snl...gilda radner...i still think of "baba wawa" every time i catch a snippet of her on the tv...I adored Gilda and was SO sad when she died of cancer. I read her autobiography (or biography? can't remember which now), which was started after they knew she was dying. Anyway, Paper Lanterns is wonderful, and how we got to Baba Wawa from that, only the history of the thread can tell .
Mar Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 One of my favorites on 1039, and I agree with you J'Net, that line is my favorite! Just a fun, sweet song.
Supermodel*Robot Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I love how honest & simple the lyrics were in 1039. It was just pure teenage confusion & infatuation. It's a nice thing to have when you're going through the same things. This song is just really pure & that's what makes it so incredible. I also love the really simple solos Billie used to write during the 1039/Kerplunk! days. They're starting to creep back in a bit now, but that's one thing that held some of those songs above others that came after.
Jaymee!! Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 FUCKING. FINALLY.I love you all. Seriously. This has made my week.Thank you, good night.
