Freeny Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 good song, haha, the second video you put up was awesome!
LilPunky Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Aww, Paper Lanterns <3My second favorite song from 1039!
Spark of Insanity Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 This is my absolute favorite song off of the album. I actually fell in love with the lyrics even before I first heard the song actually. Then I heard the song and noticed how perfect it was.My favorite lines are the same as J'net.I can listen to this song on repeate for forever.
Anja Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Aaaw I'm so happy you picked Paper Lanterns One of those GD songs that will always be special for me. I also like the way Billie sings 'That had you on my mind' That always puts a smile on my face I find it cute though.
shoegazeloser Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 The lyrics to this song hurt so bad...I can relate to the lyrics 100%
spark in the night Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I wonder why it's called Paper Lanturns
Princess Consuela Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I wonder why it's called Paper LanturnsYeah, that's actually interesting. Any ideas?
J'net Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Yeah, that's actually interesting. Any ideas?Well, I can make up a story, but keep in mind - this is just my imagination:The last time Billie saw this girl they were at a party. It was spring time, and the party was outside. There were paper lanterns hung in the branches of the trees, and as they moved in the gentle breeze they threw patterns of light across her face and shoulders. So every time he remembers her, he thinks about those paper lanterns. How's that???
Alan86 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Paper Lanters is great. I wish they played i live more, but its hard to fit everything into a 3hr show.
blueboy Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Well, I can make up a story, but keep in mind - this is just my imagination:The last time Billie saw this girl they were at a party. So every time he remembers her, he thinks about those paper lanterns. How's that???I thought it was more related with drugs. Paper Lanterns=JointOne of my favorites from 1,039/SOSH and probably one of the best live songs.
J'net Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 I thought it was more related with drugs. Paper Lanterns=JointOne of my favorites from 1,039/SOSH and probably one of the best live songs. It could be, though the lyrics don't seem like a drug song. But, as I said, I was just making up something that could explain why he would name the song that. I could make up something entirely different - that's just the first thing that came to my mind. Sheer fantasy on my part .
Rae'n'shine Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 When I hear this song, I always think of Woodstock '94. I always smile when this song plays because of that.
Kayfabe Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 It could be, though the lyrics don't seem like a drug song. But, as I said, I was just making up something that could explain why he would name the song that. I could make up something entirely different - that's just the first thing that came to my mind. Sheer fantasy on my part .Translation: Don't crush my flowery romantic dreams, bitch Maybe he just likes paper lanterns?
Princess Consuela Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 It could be, though the lyrics don't seem like a drug song. But, as I said, I was just making up something that could explain why he would name the song that. I could make up something entirely different - that's just the first thing that came to my mind. Sheer fantasy on my part .Or Billie just decided there was enough titles like 'Why do you want him?', 'The one that I want' or 'Only of you' and randomly picked name after the first thing that came to his mind
J'net Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Or Billie just decided there was enough titles like 'Why do you want him?', 'The one that I want' or 'Only of you' and randomly picked name after the first thing that came to his mind That's probably the most likely scenario . Like the song Armatage Shanks .
Princess Consuela Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 That's probably the most likely scenario . Like the song Armatage Shanks .Yes, I was thinking about this one too
shoegazeloser Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 That's probably the most likely scenario . Like the song Armatage Shanks .Bab's Uvula Who?, Private Ale, Emenius Sleepus, and Platypus are other cases of this scenario.
greendaytone Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 One of THE greatest ever Green Day songs. I want to hear them play it live again!
Princess Consuela Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Bab's Uvula Who?, Private Ale, Emenius Sleepus, and Platypus are other cases of this scenario.A bit off topic, but 'Bab's Uvula Who' is probably the most peculiar title of GD song.
shoegazeloser Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 A bit off topic, but 'Bab's Uvula Who' is probably the most peculiar title of GD song.Private Ale might not be a random song. It's about how he wanted Adrienne to like him...Ale is addictive. BJ thinking of Adrienne (in PRIVATE) is addictive to him.Sorry for going off topic...let's get back to Paper Lanterns.
