The GDA Green Day Roots Tour of 20?

This sounds really cool. Too bad I'm in England. I'd have to save up sooo much to be able to do this.

Another idea, to stop the van going to waste, would be to follow Green Day around on an American tour sometime. Even though that could cost a hell of alot more that this. Someone needs to win big on the lottery!

I like that idea. When I saw them in August I was in line with this group who had seen them at another stop in FL like the day or two before. I was thinking of how amazing it would be to go all the shows on the US tour. So if The Sassafras Roots Tour works out, we may have to do the Hitchin' A Ride Tour, when they release their next album.

Hitchin' A Ride tour sounds awesome!

Too bad with me living in Europe.. I should start saving money and then come to US and participate on this^^ :D

I like the idea, but I'd never get into a van with a bunch of people I never met before.

That's a very good attitude to have. Especially at your age.

However I feel that mostly everyone on here is cool, and can be trusted. HOWEVER, for legality, safety, and I guess morality reasons, I don't think we'll be able to have any minors on the trip.

I think my friend (whose not on the forum) wants to come on this trip aswell, and my bf says, money dependent he might go (if this is ok with everyone else!) looks like the van will be invaded by british lol. So are we thinking more 3 or 4 years?

Oh and i LOVE both the vans, i can just tell this is going to be epic!

i wonder what music we will have on this road trip *ponders* :D

That is such a great idea.

Because I don't think there is the chance of a "short" detour through germany to pick me up  , all I can do is wish you guys a really great time!!!

I honestly like your idea, but I'm in Germany -.-

I'm totally with you!! I'm from Italy...

3 or 4 years you say? Well by then I'm old enough at least.

It's an awesome idea, wish I could go. Pity I live sort of in the wrong place. Well I hope it works out (haven't read the whole thread) and you'll all have a great time!

And seeing all the Europeans going "aww can't go because I live in *country*".....maybe we could organize some big following them on tour around Europe on the next tour (not the next leg of the tour, I mean really the next tour of a new album [if that will happen]). Probably just wishful thinking, but well.....

I love your idea! Too bad I live in The Netherlands, and I'm too young.. but anyways, good luck planning all of this!

It'd be awesome if there was something like this in Europe. Like a group of GDC people meeting somewhere, and going to a few Green Day shows together! I was thinking about something like that for the next tour, so not the next leg of the 21CB one.

Lol! That's what I was thinking  I'll be 19 in three years, so I'll be old enough to join a group of GD fans following the band on tour! Haha. We'll see..

Hey, I'm with you on that one. :)

if you make a detour to Seattle i'll show you the town Longview was named after :)

I went there last Halloween to pick up pumpkins :D Now guess how excited it made me to drive to a city/town called Longview

If you do this in a few years or let's say, if you ever do this, I might be in! Just need a job or win a green card to finally move to where I left my heart :( A roadtrip across the States is one of my biggest dreams and to do it with a bunch of Green Day freaks sounds pretty fun! Hope you can make this come true, not only for yourself but also for everyone else who would go with you on this ride (like me)

I would love to do it, but I just can't afford it right now with Christmas coming up, my "stepdaughter's" birthday, and my puppy getting spayed. :(

So what special Green Day related sites will be seen along the way?

I like the idea, but I'd never get into a van with a bunch of people I never met before.

We have candy... :shifty:

Yeah, that's mostly why I said next tour, not the next leg, I'll be 18 by then

And because it needs a lot of planning and money...

thinking too far into things, but I hope they don't do the next tour while I'm in the middle of my exams or something

For me, The Gilman St. Project is one of the big spots for this tour. I really would like to see a few shows here. Also, from the suggestion of Kleptomaniac, Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe (Mike Dirnt's Restaurant). I'm also thinking of places like East 12th St., Stuart & the Ave., El Sobrante, Pinole, all those kinds of places. I'm open for suggestions of more places.

Also, with as many people that seem interested in doing this, I was wondering if there was anyone else who either has a van, or could buy a used one like I'm planning on doing. I'm starting to wonder if one van would be enough. A carpool might be better. Also, how many folks from in and around Cali are on here? Do you guys know any good hotels to stay at in the Berkeley/Oakland area? I'm thinking we should have a "Welcome to Paradise Party" once we make it out there :)

man i've always wanted to do that.

and you're only a couple hours away from where i live (unfortunately i wouldn't be allowed to go).

i think that's a great idea, also if you plan on driving out west, you can pick up GDCers all along the way,

and crash at their houses instead of hotels lol

Holy crap! That's brilliant. I mean, I was thinking of picking up people all along the way, but never considered crashing with them! Now we just got to find some unbelievably generous, trusting people who'd offer to do this. I'm still planning for hotels just in case, but I think it would make the group that much closer of friends if we were to stay the night at some of their places. Reminds me of how Green Day toured back in the day :) Perfect idea for this trip!

Cool idea, and definitely not impossible. I decided a month and a half before my departure date that I was going to England to see Green Day 8 times in a row. Do it. You will not regret it. I probably couldn't let you guys crash with me, but I could definitely be your Bay Area tour guide.

Hell yeah! See, I've seen you & your group's adventures through Facebook. If you don't mind me asking, how much did that cost? Air fare, hotels, concert tickets, food...etc? Because that would be quite an epic adventure as well!

I got lucky and only spent $600 on airfare through a student travel site called STA Travel. I'd say I spent about $700 on food, hotels (this was for 6 nights, all of them split with other people), transportation, merchandise, souvenirs, etc. My tickets cost me about another $700, but that's because I bought them all on eBay, and the British pound is worth more than the American dollar, so the exchange rate was crap. :/

Man, see that's the kind of thing I want to do for Green Day shows. I don't get to go to concerts that much, and so many people on here have been to like 4 or more Green Day shows all within a month or less. I think that would be amazing. I think the band loves it when fans are at multiple shows like that. I really wish I could do it. I almost feel like I'm not a good Green Day fan for only going to one show. I know that's stupid, but it still sort of feels that way. That's why I will be damned if I don't get this road trip thing to happen. Even if it's a little later than I anticipate or with not as many people as I'd like, it's going to happen, damn it! Lol.
