Jaymee!! Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I thought of it first, lolI see no evidence of this being called 'Sassafras Roots Tour' before myself mentioning it
Supermodel*Robot Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Yeah, I was thinking of like painting the name of whatever this trip would be called. I don't think "The GDA Green Day Roots Tour" will be the final name. Perhaps The Sassafras Roots Tour or something.... lol. But whatever the final name would be, have it painted in the early album art style, like Kerplunk or 39/Smooth. But also feature some sort of representation of all the other albums all over the rest of the van. I'm gonna start messing around in photoshop once this idea/plan becomes a little more solid.Sorry Jaymee. Haha
JakeThompson Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 I see no evidence of this being called 'Sassafras Roots Tour' before myself mentioning it Uh... look where you quoted me. I thought of it right in that quote.

JakeThompson Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 Awwe... don't feel that way. We both kinda thought of it right around the same time. Clearly great Green Day minds think alike!
Jaymee!! Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 The amount of fail I just called upon myself is inexcusable.
JakeThompson Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 The amount of fail I just called upon myself is inexcusable.Lol, well I think it's a good name. And you honestly didn't see it, so you should be happy that you thought of it as well as I. Don't be so hard on yourself, lol.
VanessaIsh Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 if you make a detour to Seattle i'll show you the town Longview was named after Yeshh a stop in Seattle would be AMAZING. And I have LOTS of energy to keep the car ride interesting:]The town Longview was names after? I lived in Washington in all my life and I dunno what you're takling about.
JakeThompson Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 Ok so this is just a basic "first draft" of an idea for the route we'd take. There will most certainly be many more stops along the way, but this is just sort of the way I have in mind. Feel free to suggest any alternate routes or ideas. This is really a community kind of trip. I want as many people involved in it as possible.
Jaymee!! Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 See that dark grey dot alllllll the way up there?Yeah, that one. It looks like Ottawa.
Rebel07 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 this is an awesome idea. I've always wanted to do something like this
JakeThompson Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 Alright so I just started messing around in Photoshop for possible paint jobs for the van. Here a possible idea for the back:
Laura! Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 This sounds so epic. It might be possible for me to get to that Tennessee stop. When might this be? Or don't we know yet?I'm all the way up there by that dot in Ohio that says Toledo.

Supermodel*Robot Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I don't plan on doing this for at least 2 years, but more like 3-4.Well in that case, I might just be old enough or moved-out the house enough to go.
JakeThompson Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 I added the Warning Man to the back windows, as well as made the green letter colors a little darker...
Kleptomaniac Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Aww man only if I saw this thread sooner. I'm loving the idea the more we talk about it.
Guest Shangri-La Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 i like that you're planning on avoiding the south.
JakeThompson Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 Aww man only if I saw this thread sooner. I'm loving the idea the more we talk about it. So I was just thinking... since this is going to need a lot of planning, depending on how many people come on this trip, I think we may need a Sassafras Roots Tour Planning Committee. Since our twitter conversation was the real birth of this idea, I think you and I should be the Committee leaders or w/e, lol.
Abstractication Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 How about ya swing by Western NY? If I save up enough I'm totally fucking doing this.

I'll be like 21-24 when this happens and possibly there could be another GD release by that time- which is awesome. I'm all for it though. Anything for a road trip out to that area. And that's like a 12 passenger van isn't it or can it fit more people?Loving the tour name though: "So why are you alone wasting your time? When you could be with me wasting your time? I'm a waste like you with nothing else to do. May I waste your time too?"haha but it definitely wouldn't be a waste.
JakeThompson Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 How about ya swing by Western NY? If I save up enough I'm totally fucking doing this. That's a little far... :/
nimrod-41 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 This sounds really cool. Too bad I'm in England. I'd have to save up sooo much to be able to do this.Another idea, to stop the van going to waste, would be to follow Green Day around on an American tour sometime. Even though that could cost a hell of alot more that this. Someone needs to win big on the lottery!
