sallysimpson Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Times Square itself is pretty tame these days during NYE. There are a lot of barricades and whatnots and the police really corral people in these days. That said, it will be still be crazy because you have to get there really early for a good place, and I don't know where they are putting the bands this year since Times Square has been redone with Father Duffy Square being remodeled recently. That said, sometimes we get warm NYE's here. I will be going to this, I just hope there are some details coming from somewhere as the date gets closer. After 15 years in NYC, I might actually go to Times Square (eek!). I've been in the area and they really do have tight security. And after a certain point they won't let people come in or leave the area and come back. There is an open container law in NYC and they enforce it pretty strictly -- especially on NYE. However, people are creative and frequently show up well oiled. So if public vomiting troubles you, this is not the place to be. As for the cold -- if it's not windy or raining/snowing, then lots of layers should take care of that issue. But whether outside freezing or cozy in my apartment, there's nowhere I'd rather be than in NYC for New Year's.If you do plan to do this, you better make your hotel reservations now.

**She** Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 This is one of these moments that makes me wish I would not live in Germany...I can`t fly to America to see that. I really hope there will be some videos. I just watched the one from new years eve 1999 again. But that one was not outside with a huge crowd but in a small studio. Will it be like that this time again?Am I the only one who wonders why they prefer to play another show on that special evening instead of having a private party with their families? Especially during being on tour for such a long time?(I hope no one bothers if german fans are participating here with not so perfect english but I haven`t found any german Green Day Forum as great as this one...)
