gabbag Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I think I like the Clash's cover better but I still really like Green Day's version as well
JimBobTp82 Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 When is the pepsi commercial from?I forgot when this was made. I know I saw it durning a Super Bowl ad one year. Also this song I Fought The Law is Not done by the clash did a cover of it too. But the Artist that made it a hit was Bobby Fuller here is the Wikipedia about it. I Fought The Law but there was an Artist before Bobby Fuller that made this a hit too. I like every verison old and GD too.
The Disappearing Boy Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 When is the pepsi commercial from?2004
Metanoia Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 i love green day playing i fought the law <3 <3 <3 and they did in cologne thats was just so awsome !!!
greendaytone Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I think this is a brilliant cover. It's got more oomph than The Clash version, i also like that though. It's one of their best covers yes, my favourite is still 'A Quick One While He's Away'
Isabel Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Bobby Fuller Four's version is my favourite overall. I think it's far better than Green Day's, The Clash's or the Dead Kennedy's version. But I think Johnny B. Goode is definitely my favourite Green Day cover
Mrs. Nobody Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Both versions are brilliant (: clash and green day
Brian Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Wow that was great! I'm guessing that was only in Europe because i have never seen this before! Nice find
gabbag Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Wow that was great! I'm guessing that was only in Europe because i have never seen this before! Nice findNo, it was in the US. It was just awhile ago.
novacaine_kid Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I think I actually like Green Day's version more than the others. Even though they are all really good
Brian Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 No, it was in the US. It was just awhile ago.Guess I don't watch enough tv then.
green_melly Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 one of their best covers !up with like a rolling stone and a quick one while he's away
Guest Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 i like it enough but it ain't got nothing on the clash or the dead kennedys
Bexie. Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I love the cover, but tbh you can't not love the original
Nzap Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I hate the Ramones, Sex Pistols and Dead Kennedy's covers as they rape the lyrics (and all the other ones who did that), but the rest I like of what I've heard (at least Clash, GD, Stray Cats, BF4).Of the good ones, GD and BF4 are the best, but all of the ones are miles better than the ones who tried to ruin the song.
Jimmy Strummer Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I had to ask this question, but I couldn't find an appropriate thread to ask it in, and I kinda felt that it relates to this a little bit: has anyone noticed that Mike is a REALLY big fan of The Clash? He's mentioned them in a ton of interviews and clips online (to rattle off a few: KerrangTV Top 10, the 21CB in-studio videos, MuchMusic Egos and Icons) and he even named his kid after the song "Guns Of Brixton." How big of a Clash fan IS Mike Dirnt?
Solitary One Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I love the cover, but tbh you can't not love the original I honestly dislike the original, not my cup of tea. I love The Clash and Green Day's covers though.
Bastard of 1967 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 What do you think of Green Day's "I Fought The Law" Cover?Improves on The Clash's original Edit: version (thanks to Isabel for pointing out my oops!).....rhythm section is tighter, the "great wall of sound" mix also makes a difference, and Billie Joe's vocals surpass what Joe Strummer and Mick Jones could muster. Cheers to The Clash for a great original, and to Green Day for a cover that does justice to it.
Isabel Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Improves on The Clash's original.....The Clash covered it, it wasn't their song
Nzap Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 The Clash covered it, it wasn't their song Yea, but the Clash made the first "punky" version if I'm not mistaking.
madswester Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 nice! i also like the song better than the class
Bastard of 1967 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 The Clash covered it, it wasn't their song You right. Gonna go spank my fact-checker.
Isabel Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 You right. Gonna go spank my fact-checker. Did you mean the first "punk" version? I just assumed you meant it was the original original version
Bastard of 1967 Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Did you mean the first "punk" version? I just assumed you meant it was the original original version "THE" original version was what I intended, so your assumption was not incorrect. My facts, however, were.
