novacaine_kid Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Love it. So glad they have started playing it live again.
E!!i Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Love it. So glad they have started playing it live again. It would have been better when they had played Horseshoes And Handgrenades on the concert in Cologne.
Abbey. Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I have an internal video that runs in my head for most Green Day songs - its too bad Im not a pre-cog (Minority Report - great flick) or I could much more easily share them by simply projecting them on the wall for everyone to see. My delusional brain videos (DBV) have characters in them and they are always different depending on the song. As I wrote about in SHE, the characters in my DBV were Billie Joe and Adrienne. In NOVACAINE its ME (my big fat ego gets to star in this one) and I think it's because this song reaches down into me and digs up those times in my life that I've shared with St. Jimmy. I guess the song, as written, is about draining the pain away (whatever that pain may be from) but for me, the song brings me to those moments in life of crossing the line. NOVACAINE brings me back to THAT MOMENT when I was just about to cross the line, the anticipation, the excitement, the fear, the danger, the connection to the person/people I was with - did I really trust them yet I wanted to trust them more than anybody in the world. NOVACAINE embodies THAT moment in the most scary, knowing way which is why this song is so joyfully uncomfortable to listen to.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Dentist - Novacaine  Green Day - Novacaine Completely agreed! xD
colour_me_stupid_ Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 My favourite part is the middle solo kinda part.. I love the guitar just when it comes to last "Drain the pressure form the swelling"And I love the "Tell me Jimmy I wont feel a thing" part onwards Hell I love it all!
RobyRoom Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I love this song, and I'm glad they've played it live on this tour a few times. I like the progression of the song and when, in the second chorus, Billie shouts out Give me novacaine!! But the soft part is cool too.Right now I may digress but every time I listen to this song the first thing that comes to my mind is a sex scene on ER , GMN was playing while two doctors were making out (don't focus on me watching ER please This was I lifetime ago... ) And this was only to emphasize the concept that to me Give me novacaine is damn sexy .

That's incredibly random.
RobyRoom Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 What, really? That's incredibly random.Really. The song was used in the show. To be honest I think that it perfectly fitted the scene, you know.. doctors, novacaine, body contact, the voice of Billie Joe... epic!! It was in 2005 I suppose... exactly in the AI era. If I manage to save enough spare time I'd post the vid
Emjay Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 This song is wonderful. Real song of the week-material.The lyrics and the music are really powerful, i just love it!
bjrules Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 I'm so happy that they've started playing this one live again. I really hope they'll play it on December 14.
sallysimpson Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 After hearing this song, I was absolutely convinced of Billie Joe's talent as a musician and poet. Never before have I heard depression so precisely and beautifully portrayed. The only other song to affect me in the same way is the Who's "See Me, Feel Me." You never expect to hear your soul on an album, but then you do. Novacaine is perfection, in my opinion, definitely one of the best (if not THE best) he's ever written.
RobyRoom Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 I've found the vid. I tryed to upload it on You Tube, but they obviously blocked the audio :/ It's the drums beat that really makes a difference in this song
RobyRoom Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 ^ The vid? What vid? Click on the img. And the vid of GMN on ER will start...I think the authors found the song really sexy
Tiffx Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 My favourite part is the middle solo kinda part.. I love the guitar just when it comes to last "Drain the pressure form the swelling"I love all those parts. I have to listen to this song again, it's been ages.

Just reading the words "See Me, Feel Me" gives me the chills - fascinating and awesome comparison. As a side note, I still remember so vividly seeing Tommy the musical - and for the first time experiencing powerful rock music and theater - those memories still blow me away.
Good-Riddance Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 It's my favourite American idiot track They played it at Manchester on Friday! I freaked. I wasn't expecting them to. :]

Doesn't matter how many times I hear either song, I still get chills.
J'net Posted November 2, 2009 Author Posted November 2, 2009 One of my favorite GD songs! It's my answer tone for my cell when you call it. And I was lucky enough to hear Billie Joe play it live right in front of me this year at the Philly show. That was such a sweet moment in Philly! I remember looking at Cheryl, who was standing right next to me, and we both had tears in our eyes.
unique presence Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Give me a long kiss good night and everything will be alright, tell me that i wont feel a thing ..and give me Novocainefavorite part of the song Me too! I absolutely love this part. It was awesome when they played it at the O2 on the 24th - and I haven't stopped listening to it since. It also reflects quite well how I'm feeling at the moment.
†...HAUSHINKA...† Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 it's a really masterpiece...it's so deep...painful... it hurts and makes me cry so often... when I heard it live I lost all my voice singing it... my soul trembles whan I listen to this song...
