chris topher Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 It's such a beautiful song. One of my favsongs of all time. The melody, thje lyrics. All the emotions. I love it.
Juju Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 awesomesauce!definitely one of their best songs. It's probably my fave off AI, tied with Letterbomb.I listen to it every time I'm in a "meh" mood and need cheering upand when I can't sleep, it's my lullaby.
Beathe. Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Great choice. It's so beautiful and sad, definitely one of my favorite songs off American Idiot. I love listening to it when I'm sad or feel like crying.I couldn't agree more.
cmrnmrphy Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I wish they did this in Boston, Such a good song live
The Disappearing Boy Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 this is a cool song. i haven't heard it in ages
Bluberri Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I was listening to AI while I was at the dentist today and this came on while they were flossing my teeth. I started cracking up. All of it totally reminded me of the dentist!
Mar Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I was listening to AI while I was at the dentist today and this came on while they were flossing my teeth. I started cracking up. All of it totally reminded me of the dentist! That is the most meta thing I've ever heard in my life!
Abbey. Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 but you can also interpret it as maybe love.oooo, i like that.If I had to summarize this song in one sentence it would be this: "Stop the pain, make it stop, for God's sake please do anything to make it stop." Reminds me a lot of the first 6 months of trying to get used to our then-new baby girl being in the house (yeah, now at 2 years old she's a LOT more fun and a little less work, but we were going through hell for awhile).how fuking cool is it that we all find our own meanings to the songs. that is the best part of sharing on this thread. you relate it to being a new father. love love love that.
RebelofSuburbia Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Love this song, the lyrics are amazing <33Was kinda bummed they didn't play it the 2 times I saw them on this tour. Ah well, we got Wake Me Up When September Ends
Bastard of 1967 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 how fuking cool is it that we all find our own meanings to the songs. that is the best part of sharing on this thread. you relate it to being a new father. love love love that. That's what I love about Green Day....they have an amazing way of putting songs together that have relevance to so many different people in so many different circumstances. The same song can have one meaning one day, and another the next. Incredible.Going sorta off-topic now but not quite... P.S. "Welcome to Paradise" had a similar impact on me as I was adjusting to the new routine. The mind-shift from the first verse to the last (from "Dear mother can you hear me whining" to "Dear mother can you hear me laughing") as Billie is slowly getting used to his living situation nailed what I was feeling spot-on. I hope the mods give that one the song-of-the-week nod soon, I have a lot more to say about it.
Black Wolf Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I really like this song, my favourite slower of AI. My sister who really don't listen to GD says that this is their best song I agree too that acoustic is better.
Samantha Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Oh this song Not only are the lyrics fantastic but it's one of those song I feel I'll never get tired of listening toIts got a little bit of everything in itA masterpiece, if I may be so bold (ga)
Drew Holiday Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 This song screams "2005" to me.It was my favorite song off of AI back then, and it still is now.I remember, back in the day when I had no computer, when I saw Comp'd, and saw the band perform this song live. Still in my top 5 performances by any band of all time.
xVanessa86x Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Everytime I see the Song of the Week it's the song I've been addicted to for the past two weeks. When I hear this song, I swear, it's impossible to be dry eyed. It's so perfect in every way.My favorite part would definitely be the chorus as I'm sure a lot of you agree Give Me Novacaine =
St.jimmys_son@hotmail.com Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Yuss...Great song. With any amount of luck they'll play it in NZ in December.
04rebhop Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I was so pleased when they played this at Birmingham last night and the night before! I hadn't been expecting it and i just screamed when they started playing it.
milica. Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 oh fuck yes! one of my fav green day song... actually, i'd say my fav one, so i feel like i have to reply.... as someone has already said - a "masterpiece" song! first of all lyrics than music = a m a z i n g. the slow melodic intro + billie's voice and than the strong chorus and even stronger lyrics: "Give me a long kiss goodnight,And everything will be alright..." <3 [ i have nothing more to add ]
Alan86 Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Dentist - Novacaine  Green Day - Novacaine
E!!i Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 It's a good song but Boulevard of Broken Dreams is the best song from American Idiot and the best song of all albums.
